I was born in 30 B.C. in the ancient city of Rome. In my mortal years, I traveled the Roman Empire, and much of the known world, compiling a travelogue of the places I had been to, and of the many things I had seen.
When I was approximately 40 years old I was abducted by druids from a tavern who followed the religion of the Gods of the Grove, and was taken into their Grove. There, I was made into a vampire, just before the yearly Feast of Samhain. I was instructed by the so-called 'God' to go and try, by any means necessary, to find out why vampires in other places had been burned or destroyed when they had not been exposed to fire or the sun. Through this, I traveled to Egypt, and became the caretaker of the original two vampires, Those Who Must Be Kept.
I lived in a number of places in my two thousand years. I lived in Antioch, with Pandora for two centuries, after becoming the caretaker of Those Who Must Be Kept. After separating with her, I returned to Rome where I had the silent companionship of Avicus and Mael. I went into a coma-like sleep for far more than half a century before I was awoken by the two, and we three set sail for Constantinople. We lived there for a very short while before I went off on my own once more, and visited many places while drifting through time, before Going Into The Ground again in 1200.
I awoke again in 1482, visiting Rome and Florence briefly, before settling in Venice, spending much of my time painting for my own pleasure. It was there that I opened my home to neglected and abused boys, who had both unappreciated and undiscovered talent.
Through this, I found and turned Armand, one of my beloved fledgings. I lived for many years before the Children of Darkness, led by Santino, destroyed my house, severely injured me and took Armand as well. After the ordeal, Bianca and I, who helped me in my recovery, and whom I made a vampire to aid myself, lived very briefly in many northern European towns before settling for awhile in Dresden. It was at that time that I found Pandora, after many years apart, and begged her in vain to leave her companion, Arjun, and return to me. It was also here that Bianca left me, having over-heard my conversation with Pandora.
