Appearance
Meroko is a bunny Shinigami so therefore she has long bunny ears and a cute bunny tail. She wears a tall red hat, tube top, shorts, boots, and gloves. Her outfit is full of red, black, and white. She also has long hair, past her waist.

Her Story
Meroko is Takuto's Shinigami partner. She's an older Shinigami than Takuto and has been with him since he first became one. She is in love with Takuto and has confessed to him 57 times. Even though she was reluctant to at first, she helps out Mitsuki as much as she can.

Every Shinigami forgets his/her memories while he/she was a human. And each of them has committed suicide (otherwise, they can't become Shinigami). As with both Takuto and Izumi, Meroko has a sad story behind her suicide. Meroko's name as a human was Moe and she died at 17. She was the best friend of Kouyama Hazuki, Mitsuki's grandmother. Hazuki was the daughter of an important family but her health was very bad. Moe, whose parents were good friends with Hazuki's parents, came to visit her very often and the two got along very well. Even though Moe feels inferior to Hazuki becaue Hazuki was very beautiful and gentle, Hazuki never looked down on Moe. She said that she is most comfortable with Moe around.

One day, while they were sitting in the park chatting, they meet a young man, Koga Seijuurou. Moe starts to fall in love with him and she told Hazuki. Hazuki was very supportive of Moe's love and encouraged her. However, one day, Moe came by to visit Hazuki and found Koga and her kissing. Without hearing their explanations, she ran away in tears. Hazuki was very shocked that Moe saw them and tried to run after her. But her fainted due to her poor health and was never able to stop Moe. The next day, Hazuki found out that Moe had slit her wrist the previous night and died.

After remembering all this, Meroko became a very bitter person. She almost didn't want to have anything to do with Mitsuki because she thought Hazuki married Koga and Mitsuki is their grandchild. However, Mitsuki corrected her. Koga was indeed her grandfather, but on her father's side (aka, Aoi's father). Hazuki didn't marry Koga. What happened was that Hazuki was very saddened by Moe's death. She also loved Koga but didn't tell Moe because she didn't want to hurt her feelings. That day, she only betrayed her feelings for a moment when Koga kissed her and she never expected or wanted Moe to see. Even though Koga requested to marry Hazuki, she turned him down. Even to this day, Hazuki regrets what she did to Moe. After learning this, Meroko went to see Hazuki. Because Shinigami aren't allowed to communicate with humans they've known in the past, Meroko couldn't talk to Hazuki. However, she transformed into Moe and appeared in front of Hazuki and smiled, as if telling her that she forgives Hazuki.

Her Love
Meroko's current love is her Shinigami partner, Takuto. She has confessed to him 57 times and Takuto never answered her feelings. After being with Mitsuki for a while, and to Meroko's disappointment, Takuto started to fall in love with Mitsuki. Despite this, Meroko didn't change her attitude towards Mitsuki. She still helps her when she's in trouble. With the appearance of Izumi, Meroko's love starts to waver. Izumi tells Meroko that he loves her and that he wants her back. Meroko doesn't know what to do because she still has feelings for Izumi. When she is sad about Takuto, she runs to Izumi, who comforts her and is gentle with her.

Meroko's partner before Takuto was Izumi. He was her first love as a Shinigami and they were partners since she first became a Shinigami. Even though she confessed to him even more times than she confessed to Takuto, Izumi doesn't show any response. He's all about work. When Takuto became a Shinigami, the Head Shinigami told Izumi to convince Meroko to be Takuto's partner. On a rainy night, Meroko was told by Izumi to wear the new outfit he got her (the current one she's wearing) and meet him. However, Izumi wasn't the one who went, but it was Takuto. Meroko got the message and didn't dispute Izumi's decision. However, she was really saddened by his choice. Now that Meroko is with Takuto, Izumi confesses to Meroko. Perhaps he only realized how much he loved her after she was gone. Or perhaps he loved her all along but never was able to admit it to himself. Personality
Meroko is an outwardly cheerful person. She's sort of a "girly-girl" but isn't annoying. She falls in love easily but is very serious about her love. She doesn't take her emotions lightly and dwells on them. She cares a lot about the people around her and would do anything for them. Even though she means good, sometimes, she can't make the right decisions because she's so emotional. She wanted to take Mitsuki's life once because she had just recovered her memories and was sad that Takuto fell in love with Mitsuki. She didn't really want to take Mitsuki's soul, she was just really confused about everything. However, everything worked out and she and Mitsuki becamse close again.

My Opinion
Meroko is a really wonderful character. She isn't perfect and doesn't just complain about it. She wants to fall in love since the reason for her death was because she thought she was betrayed. Even though she falls in love easily, she's very serious about her feelings. The fact that she doesn't hate Mitsuki even though the person she loves fell in love with her is very admirable. Any other girl would be extremely jealous and probably homicidal. But Meroko is still kind and caring towards Mitsuki despite all this.

I'm a Izumi x Meroko fan. I think Meroko's first love is her true love. In the case of Takuto, I think she just wanted to replace Izumi in her heart. It's not that she doesn't love Takuto; I think she does. But the degrees are different. I think Izumi is her soul mate whom she truly loves and is destined to be with. I think both Meroko's and Izumi's personalities match very well, whereas I don't feel that match with Meroko and Takuto. Because Meroko and understand Izumi so well since they both went through a similar death, she doesn't intentionally hurt him.
