The movie is not an adaptation of the book, it is a fan fiction, so to speak. That is why it is nothing like the book. Once you see it this way you can understand it a bit more. And accept it. I liked the story although the dialogue was lacking as well as Johnny's performance.
Still, it is entertaining, which is what counts in the end, I believe. :3

Everything's okay so far. Hrm, as far as the movie goes, it was good and quite entertaining. I'm a fan of Tim Burton's works and of Johnny Depp, but I felt like the dialog could have been better, more... capturing? I can't find the right word for what I want to explain. And I couldn't help be reminded of Jack Sparrow with Johnny's performance of the Mad Hatter. So, in Vintage's scale of 1 to 10, I give Alice in Wonderland a 6.5. Regardless, I'm still watching it again this Friday or Saturday with some new friends I made this month. xD
