La amistad es universal y no discrimina. Cuando se construye una verdadera relación entre amigos, no existe la edad, el género, la religión ni la raza: lo único que importa es el vínculo de cariño, respeto, solidaridad y confianza que une a las personas que disfrutan de la unión.

Sin embargo, claro, los seres humanos no son idénticos. Por supuesto que todos deberíamos gozar de los mismos derechos, pero eso no implica que la diversidad de características no exista y que sea maravillosa. Y tampoco hay que dejar de reconocer que hombres y mujeres no son iguales. No es que los caballeros sean mejores que las damas o que el sexo femenino se destaque sobre el masculino; simplemente, son distintos.

Estas particularidades también se trasladan a las relaciones de amistad. Dos hombres que son amigos podrán compartir muchas cosas, tener códigos en común y disfrutar de un vínculo único. Tan único como el que podrán construir dos mujeres, con su propio universo y rasgos distintivos. Por algún motivo que la psicología sabrá explicar, los hombres suelen establecer relaciones grupales de amistad, formando algo así como pequeñas comunidades o grupos de pertenencia. Las chicas, en cambio, forjan duplas inseparables, donde la confianza es absoluta y la intimidad entre ellas, impenetrable, más allá de que las dos amigas también sean parte de un grupo con más integrantes.

Por último, no podemos dejar de hacer referencia al siempre espinoso tema de la amistad entre el hombre y la mujer. La postura machista (o la feminista resignada) no duda en afirmar que dicho vínculo no existe, ya que la intención sexual nunca desaparece. Pero quienes creen en lo que manifestábamos algunas líneas más arriba, defienden a la amistad transparente y sincera, que no reconoce diferencias dentro del vínculo. Da igual que nuestro amigo sea hombre o mujer: es, simplemente, nuestro amigo.

Para un hombre que quiere homenajear a su amiga, nada mejor que el poema “Esto es lo que deseo para ti”, donde el deseo existe, pero se refiere a las buenas intenciones sobre la felicidad, el éxito y el cumplimiento de los sueños.

Si eres mujer y quieres recordarle a alguien tu compromiso amistoso, no dejes de leer los versos de “Tu amiga fiel”. Tal vez dichas palabras puedan reflejar tus sentimientos.
