"I wasn't there during the Gem War... no living human was."He shrugged as dumped the clothes on the laundry basket, having to be reminded of the war during their missions against the corrupted Gems was definitely be hard on them and he knew. This wasn't the first time the Gems had returned from a mission with haunting memories from the past. "I don't think I'd ever know how that must feel or the things you've been through. You need to talk about it? Let some of that out." Greg said like he had before but with another of the Gems years back. He paused to think about it and decided that he was probably not the best person for her to talk to. "Have you talked to Garnet about it?" He asked with a concerned look. He then hastily glanced around for something to lighten the mood.
"Hey, is that a polaroid camera? It's been forever since I saw one of these." He confessed. He then quickly examined the camera to look if it still worked. "Let's see... Hmm..." The guy said as he pointed it at different objects while looking from the lens. "Yeah, a picture of Mount Steven would be nice." He said as he pointed at the laundry basket which was overflowing with mostly Steven's pink star shirts. "Not exactly the best looking picture, but hey if every porkchop was perfect..." He said with a smile but before he finished his phrase he remembered he had had a mountain of his own in his van. "Speaking of which, I have some clothes back in the van that could use a wash."
"I guess I just woke up on the wrong side of the van today." He said jokingly knowing that it wasn't entire true, as he picked up some of the articles of clothing that were scattered around the room. He knew that he was doing a poor job of trying to prevent doing something that would prompt her to get upset at him like she has done several times before. Greg usually wasn't the type of person who cared much for what other people thought of him for being himself but this time he was trying, even if it wasn't going well, for Steven.
"But hey, I'm not the only one that's not acting like themselves today." The guy knew she would have normally lost composure after what he did."Are you feeling alright, Pearl?"He asked while he began to gather clothing into a pile.
That didn't go the way he had hoped it would. "Ah, uhh, sure..." He replied in a low voice not knowing what else to say. He felt too bad about making a bigger mess and breaking the plate to even consider or notice that the sound of the plate shattering had affected Pearl. "I'll pick up some of the junk here the--ee--Achooo!" As he was talking he involuntary sneezed in Pearl's direction. "What's with me today?!" He asked himself slightly irritated shortly after. "I'll just go over there and pick up the clothes laying around here..." He said softly as he moved away. "At least I can't mess this up." He muttered under his breath. Maybe it was best if he went back to his van and came back some other day before he made things regress back to the way they were between them.
While he listened to her answer, Greg noticed that whenever he took a bite Pearl would make a mild irksome expression. That immediately reminded him of how Pearl found the sounds of chewing and eating in general disgusting so he made an attempt to chew softer. "Oh man... I guess it can't be helped. The scent of night light bubblegum is going to remain a mystery a little longer."He "I know you probably rather I didn't get in your way but that sure looks like a big mess. Think I can help? I did just come here and ate you guys' food after all." The guy said with a light chuckle as he offered his help. When he stood up to help out however he accidentally slid the plate with the leftovers off the table. Which made the plate fall down and shatter with a "crash".
"Didn't think I'd startle you." He looked at the mess that was left there in the room. It looked almost like a hurricane had passed through. "Must have been some party... I guess they left you here cleaning the place, huh?" He said as he wen't to the fridge to take out some leftover chicken that was in there. "You think they'll take *munch* long *munch* in there?" He asked as he was eating.
"Hey Pearl, have you seen Steven? I promised him I'll let him take the first whiff of the new car-freshener scents."
