Nike Lemercier, az Eső Hercegség hercegnője akarata ellenére kényszerül feleségül menni a Nap Királyság hírhedt uralkodójához (ezt nővérei egy igen komoly kő-papír-olló csatában döntötték el). Történetünk ott kezdődik, mikor Nike a Nap Királyság partjaihoz ér, és a fentiek miatt érthető, hogy nem túl nagy lelkesedéssel várja a találkozást.
