Ok yea I re-read it in a few different ways and combining them all made it almost make sense.
There are such easier ways of doing it.
For instance, the 2% tax is a simple case of dividing your total price by 50. for every 50g, the tax claims 1g.
1% claims 0.5g
So that'd be a simple case of dividing by 100.
