Well, first of all, focus on making gold.
Lots of it. Once you think you've gotten enough, go to the Durem Hair Salon. Get a pretty hairstyle.
Then, focus on getting cooler items.
For me, I just roam the Marketplace for items I think look cool.
You can find cool items virtually anywhere on Gaia.
You just have to look. Hard.
