Fog drifts everywhere. Like an entity itself, it covers the entire forest and glows in the air as the sun attempts to break through it. Ancient trees hang crooked and twisted all around the dirt path that you now walk. The green underbrush is wild and plentiful along the sides of the path. This is the first time that you have ventured into the centuries old forest just shy of town. Being early in the day, there is not a hiker around on the popular path. It feels like you have walked into another world in the fog filled forest.You pause as you spy a bench ahead of you. The bench, however, is not what made you pause. Is that…a person? The fog must be thicker than you thought because you find yourself having a difficult time making out the person. A few seconds pass until you begin to walk down the path once more. As you come closer, you realize it is a girl. Her clothes are that of ages passed and she does not notice you as she is writing something in a leather bound journal. Your breath catches as you realize that she is translucent. No, it must be a trick of the eye...Despite the denial, you find yourself still able to see the bench through her body. But that would mean she was a….
Your thoughts scatter as the girl looks up and into your eyes. Her surprised eyes are a shade of blue that are so light that it surely is not humanly possible. She nods her head in greeting and her form begins to fade. Within moments, the girl is gone leaving you alone once more in the dead of the forest. Was that a….? You feel the hair on the back of your neck rise as the feeling of being watched fills your soul. The phantom is still nearby…watching as you cross into her realm.
