Once upon a moon lit night, There was a Princess with silver hair and golden eyes, Who was in love with a Knight, She could only watch him from afar, For her father chooses her husband, that often made her cry. He would ride here and there on his raven black mare, Serving the King, serving Lords and serving the Dukes, The knight would fight for justice because he cared, And afterwards listen to the people cheering. The Princess would listen, she would cry and she would smile, For all the good deeds the Knight did for others, Travelling the meadows and travelling the mountains that went on for miles, In rain or shine, he’d fight it all. For everyone that knew her, thought she was happy as can be, Many people knew her knight and had spoken to him too, She was too shy to go and talk to him; he was also shy as far as she could see, He would always keep to himself and shy away from large groups. ‘He may be a great and a famous knight but as shy as he is, he will never find a wife’ Said a Lord. ‘You think so? But he must have someone worth fighting for in his life’ The Princess told the Lord The Princess never liked big crowds, she often ran away, She’d run away to her beautiful red rose garden, With big and small red roses and a secret passageway, A secret passageway that was known to have yellow and blue roses too. ‘Dear Princess, Thank you for defending me’ Said a quiet voice behind the princess, It was her shy Knight; he must have followed her, ‘I already have someone to share my life with me.’ Knowing her knight loved someone else; the Princess had no one to blame, ‘Sir Knight, the duty of a knight is to serve and protect those who are weaker, But would you sacrifice your life to save me, your Princess? Choose – me or your life?’ The Princess asked feeling ashamed. ‘My life, because it is important to me’ The Knight said with a smile, as the Princess turned and walked off from the shock, ‘Because you are my life, my wife-to-be’ the Princess walked back to the Knight and smiled with joy. My rays of sunshine Can’t seem to penetrate The dark storm clouds Brewing on the horizon The boulders Turn to clay As they are beaten With torrential downpours Of bad things One right after the other The leaves are falling From the trees Revealing the frail And beaten Skeletons of once lush beings The stars seem to fall From the sky As dreams fade And feelings are pushed aside Broken shells line the beach Like the broken dreams Of my once happy friends Jennifer Sol
