About
Character Name: Remus John Lupin
Nickname: Lupin, Moony
Birthday: March 10th, 1960
Year: Sixth
House: Gryffindor
Family: Little known about. Known to be a half-blood.
Pets: Grey-Mottled Barn Owl, named Pellinore
Wand: Willow, 10 inches, Dragon’s Heartstring Core
Appearance: Twin orbs of flecked gold, wolf-like in appearance, are shadowed beneath a mop of honey kissed locks. Tousled and somewhat shaggy looking, Lupin is overlooked more often than not. An average height of 5’10 sports an almost too-thin frame, broad shoulders tapering through the torso to lanky legs. Young as he is, Lupin always sports a shadowed line of stubble along his strong jaw-line. Though not deathly pale, his skin has a slight pallor to its color, and his eyes are rimmed with something akin to eternal sleepiness. The overall effect is that of weariness, but sharp gleaming eyes hint at more.
Attire: When not in the standard Hogwart’s Uniform, Lupin can be seen sporting well-worn jeans; ripped at the knees, faded through the legs, and tattered at the bottoms. Long turtleneck sweaters hang loose from his shoulders, and are usually ripped at the cuffs, so he can stick his thumbs through the fabric. Worn sneakers complete the look. When in uniform, his unkempt fashion sense somehow manages to shine through. Slacks are never pressed, shirts are rumpled, and the standard tie is never in its rightful place, but rather looped loosely around his neck.
Specialty: Defense Against the Dark Arts, & Charms. Keenly intelligent, and very much a bookworm, Lupin was raised to a Gryffindor Prefect in his Fourth year, and maintained his position until graduation.
Weakness: Bitten as a small boy by a werewolf (Fenrir Greyback), Lupin transforms against his will every full moon. When transformed, Lupin is subject to fits of dementia – the urge to hunt and kill as a wolf overrides all normal human instincts, or was until he gained some form of control. The actual process of shape shifting is physically draining, and usually leaves Lupin exhausted and shaken for days afterwards.
History:Not much is known of Lupin’s family history – though it is known that he is a half-blood. Bitten before his eleventh birthday, it seemed unlikely that Lupin would be allowed to attend Hogwarts. Lupin’s parents did all they could to find a cure, though their efforts were unsuccessful. In order to accommodate his unique ‘issues,’ the Shrieking Shack in Hogsmeade and the secret passage beneath the Womping Willow were put into place by the new Head Master Dumbledore. Once Lupin joined Hogwarts he began to make friends for the first time - keeping his illness well hidden.
Personality: Genuine and friendly, Lupin is eager to please. Having little to no friends as a younger child, he is almost desperate in his attempts to be accepted and simply liked at times. A bit more tentative and quiet than the others, Lupin is not one to charge head-first into trouble... but rather tries to discourage his friends from doing so, usually with little success. He’s not a complete stick in the mud either... he gets into his fair share of trouble, of course always with James and Sirius.
