Empathy:

The most crippling feature of Dimitri's mutation is his empathy. It only works one way, and that's on the intake level. For this he could be considered class four to five, if someone wanted to look at it without the cynicism. While he cannot manipulate other people's emotions, Dimitri has the ability to feel anything and everything around him that is alive, and capable of some sort of emotion. (Humans, animals, alien life forms, etc.) If it can feel, and is not a machine, or plant, he can tell you what's going on with it. He's a fantastic lie detector, able to pick up on small shifts and details in how people are feeling. He can feel emotions on a wide-scale level, the limit yet unknown. While not Cordelia Frost, he is still able to feel out the length of cities as large as New York if not larger. Because of his empathy and the nature of his powers, he is much less susceptible to vocal manipulation in varying degrees. He is not immune, but has an easier time resisting it.

Illusionist:

Through the power of his voice, Dimitri is able to create illusions. Although his mutation is not in its infant stages, because of his self confidence issues, he is limited to the arts. Through the written word, music, and art in its most basic form he can create illusions. When reading out loud he tends to manifest the images from the book in to real life, taking over spaces as small as a room, or as large as entire islands to re-enact the stories out loud. These illusions seem so real at the time that they can touch you, and you can touch them. They can talk to you as you might talk to a real person, and interact with them just the same. He is not limited, however, to just books of any sort. Anything written down can be read out loud and manifested in to illusions. This can be both a terrible, and wonderful thing. (Fanfiction writers would love him, that's for sure.) With the illusions so solid, something like Hitler being manifested could be deadly if the illusions ever managed to develop a mind of their own.

Which they can. Dimitri, at this point, unknowingly manifests certain parts of his illusions in to real beings. People, objects, maybe even places. This development of his powers is still in the infant stages.

The same can be applied to his music, however. When playing an instrument, or singing a song, Dimitri is able to bring the same illusions to life, though coming out of these it's purely based on his imagination. Whatever he thinks might happen during a song is what will manifest. He cannot pull things from other people's heads or the future, it's solely his own creations. However! He cannot be emotionless, otherwise he doesn't have the drive to create these illusions.

A latent part of his ability is the artistic part. Dimitri is, all around, a “bard”. If this were D&D? He'd be the most important party member, a brilliant and talented youth. Eventually the things he draws on a piece of paper will be able to come to life, and manifest off of the paper. Say he was looking at a building, and erased a window, only to draw in a door? The door would appear rather than the window. He will also one day be able to write his own stories, and bring them to life.

{~} weaknesses
Dimitri has always been rather frail physically, and as always, stamina plays a huge factor in his mutation. While it's mostly mental stamina, there's some physical exertion involved, especially since it involves playing instruments, or speaking out loud. That in itself is a limitation. Dimitri not just think, and manifest an illusion, he must be doing something along the lines of playing an instrument, singing, or reading aloud. It goes completely off of his emotions conveyed through actions.

The act is, unfortunately, exhausting, less so when he's been properly fed and had a full night's sleep, but what college student, honestly, gets that? That's like suggesting it rain in the middle of a drought in the desert. Never gonna happen. Still, he can go for hours, sure, but the more he pushes it the more likely he is to get sick. Despite how much he likes to claim otherwise, he's retained some of the illness problems from his childhood, he just hides it better now.

Dimitri can not be emotionless when he's performing, otherwise there will be no illusions. Think of him as a musical empath, he draws from the people around him in order to create his own mood, and in creating his mood he is able to make everything move. If there are no emotions to feed off of, his or someone else's, nothing works. It's just empty music, or empty words.

He can not in any way, shape, or form control anyone else's emotions, he can only feel what someone else is feeling. When you get him in a room with way too many people at once, all feeling different things, he tends to start freaking out, he can't pick out which emotions are his, and which belong to someone else.

"Ah, yeah. Remember that sword I had last night? I tried to get rid of it, but it uh, stabbed me in the back. After I managed to ditch it, the wound healed, but now I have these weird blood marks all over me. My scars are reappearing, and the marks are really sensitive. Thus, no clothes. I'm hoping it'll go away like a rash."

"Aw, thanks for checkn' up on me man. I'm fine. I've been through worse. I have a strange line of work.
How are you doing?"

"Alright..." he said, watching Chad leave before he slumped back in his seat, both hands lifting to rub at his eyes.

Goddammit he was such an idiot.

Oh this was getting all shades of awkward.

"I--I don't know yet actually. I haven't really given it much thought," he admitted, casting a tentative glance at Chad before looking away again, clearing his throat as he turned his chair, trying to look busy. "But no, we're not going to the zoo. That's supposed to be an all three of us thing. I wouldn't leave you out of that trip."

"I--" He stopped, blushing some as he ducked his head some, sighing. "I do like Val, a lot, and I asked her out on a date last night but that's....there's more to it than that." Part of him just wanted to say what he had to say and the other part? The more sensible part? Knew it was better to just keep his mouth shut.

Chirping at him, the Autobot reached forward and tapped his head gently, not wanting to throw Chad off balance or anything. "Never gonna give--" "--it's worth a shot--" "--won't know until you--" "--ask me anything."
