Here I stand in the middle of this blood bath. The girl who couldn't cut deep enough, The girl who covers up her bruises, The girl who couldnt find enough pills. The girl who's parents abused her so she abused herself. The girl in the back of the class. The shy one. The quiet one. The girl who comforts everyone else in their crisis, but in return she got nothing. The girl who tells her friends not to cut, smoke, drink, or OD has become one of those friends entirely. She has no desire to live. The girl who just wants to be normal. She wants her mother to care for her. She wants her father to realize she wants nothing to do with him. What would happen if she told. This girl cries every night wishing it could go back to the way it was. When people believed what she said was true. When people believed in her. When she could tell people what was wrong without them relating it back to themselves. When her mother actually smiled. When her mother didn't drink every time her boyfriend wasn't around. What if the girl did cut deep enough. What if she did get the amount of pills right. What if the girl didnt cover up her bruises. What about the mother who tries to protect her daughter. Who thinks she is protecting her from the world but isnt really. Who thinks her daughter needs a shield but was already exposed. What if that girl where me?
