Caught in Limbo
She was a priestess of virtue
giving her mind, body and soul
for the good of her people.
He was a Youkai (demon), though
only a half-blooded prince.
Her duty was a life-long task.
Guard the Jewel of Four Souls,
lest evil find it in it's grip.
Often betrayed by his own kind
this halfling sought the Shikon Jewel
to make himself whole.
It was just a matter of time before they met.
She prepared her arrows,
but fate had other plans.
In mercy she would spare his life,
and in return he made her's
a little more worth living for.
Her blood stained face and clothes
reeked of the impure banished.
A stark contrast to her unending faith.
...and so he brought to stain her lips,
red dye to replace the blood.
Company to replace the sorrow.
It wasn't fate for him to see
her smiling in that field, though.
The night they were supposed to meet
was the night they both fell.

Amusingly enough, I'm not sure that I've ever tried to cosplay Shippo.
