Did You Know?
Canadian army.~
~The bear was very popular with Christopher Robin, son of author A.A. Milne. It was his favorite animal at the London Zoo, and he often spent time inside the cage with it.~
~A teddy bear was purchased at Harrod's department store in London and given by A.A. Milne to his son Christopher Robin on his first birthday, August 21, 1921. He was called Edward (proper form of Teddy) Bear at the time.~
~The bear at the zoo became Christopher Robin's inspiration
for calling his own teddy bear Winnie ... Winnie the Pooh.~
~The rest of the toys (Piglet, Eeyore, Kanga, Roo, and Tigger) were received as gifts by Christopher Robin between 1920 and 1928.~
~A.A. Milne started to write a series of books about Winnie the Pooh, his son Christopher Robin, and their friends in the 100-Acre-Wood, and the rest is history.~
~The REAL 100-Acre-Wood is the Ashdown Forest in southern
England, located near the Milne family home.~
~Today Pooh and his friends are as happy in New York's Donnell Library Center as they were when they lived in the 100-Acre-Wood.~
