I asked Alice Invisible o0o to write me a story based on my avi. And I LOVED it! So here it is!It's a little long for my profile but...Oh well! (I will pay her soon)

A long time ago, when the fox was still a pup, she met the man. Starving and weak, she had been abandoned and kicked out by her brothers and sisters. The fox had, whimpering, been attacked by a huge animal and was lying, half dying, bleeding on the ground. As the fox's vision began to blur, she saw the sun, and thought, "It's time...for me to die." Then a shadow covered the fox. The fox saw a face. A huge face, with worried brown eyes, lines covering the middle aged face. She was carefully cradled and moved.

The little fox faded in and out of consciousness as the man nursed her back to health.
When the little fox finally recovered, the first thing she saw was the man’s kind face. “Are you okay, little fox?” he asked softly, patting her head. She did not understand what he said, but the kind words soothed her.

For 10 years she stayed with the man, who took care of and adopted the little fox as a pet. She loved the man’s kind expression and everything about the kind man who had saved her from Death’s door. His house was a simple wooden house in the forest. He owned a bird who the little fox liked to tease, and a dog, who was very friendly with the little fox. The kind man often would nurse wounded animals and release them back to their homes.

One day, the door of the kind man’s hut banged open. Several men came in and spoke roughly. The kind man waved his hands in frantic denial. The men did not care. They dragged him away. The dog and the little fox desperately grabbed at the big men who were taking their savior and friend away. The men kicked them away. When the dog ran after them, barking, one pulled out a gun and shot the dog.

The fox cried in shock and anger and ran after them. The man fired a shot, but luckily missed, and the little fox retreated, crying. She couldn’t do anything. Nothing for the human she loved.

From her spot, she saw several humans, one who had often visited, angrily come after the men. They did not succeed in getting back the kind man, but they were not harmed and were able to do something. They angrily resolved to get the kind man back.

The fox slunk away into the forest, dragging the dog’s corpse behind her.


For a while she lay there crying. Then she tried to follow them. But she was kicked or tossed aside continuously. The little fox cried. “If only I could become human” the fox cried. “Then I could ask around , then I could find him. Then I could do something!”

The little fox’s cries were so loud that the Clever Fox Spirit came down and asked, “Why are you crying, little child?”

The little fox told the Clever Fox all that had happened. The Clever Fox told the little fox, “I can make you human. But in return, when you die, instead of going to the peaceful land, I will take your essence, and you will turn to stone, fated to stay in that place until your being as stone decays into dust. You will be human until the day you meet the man who you are looking for, and then you will have 48 hours of being human before you become a fox again.”

The little fox bravely nodded. The Clever Fox sighed and blew softly on the little fox. Her shape changed to be that of a human girl with orange hair. She still had a tail that waved softly behind her.

The Clever Fox warned her, “You are human now. As a human, you must wear clothing.”

The little fox nodded, and set off from the forest. She donned a shirt and some gym shorts.

The little fox searched for many, many years for her friend who had been taken away. She went to city to city, searching continuously.

Finally she found the kind man. By now he was an old, old man, wrinkled and weary.
The little fox told him everything. He smiled and patted the little fox on the head, a little disbelieving of his eyes and ears. The little fox said, “ You nursed me back to health and cared for me. I wish to do the same for you. Whatever you want I shall do.”

He smiled at her. "I want to go and see the falls, where I nursed you back to health, one last time."

And so they hiked together, the little fox and the old man, up the mountain.

They reached the beautiful clearing of the old man's boyhood. The little fox asked, "What do you wish? I will do anything you like."

"I am so tired," said the old man. "Little Fox, I would like to sleep. I would like to sleep right here on the ground, with you watching over me."

And so the old man lay down quietly. And the little fox curled up next to the old man.

And so through the night the old man passed away. And the little fox did not cry. She did not cry when she felt the cold body of the old man who had cared for her when she was little. She did not cry for five days. She just stood there by the old man's dead body, a little fox and the old man.
