First off, just play some games (I highly recommend pinball ^^), and that'll earn you gold.
And the only way to change hair is if you purchase it here http://www.gaiaonline.com/gaia/shopping.php?key=wdwoprgbzbtbjimf
and every time you want to change it you HAVE to purchase it. Different hairstyles cost more gold.
