Honestly, I don't care much either way. It's all about perception. Most people, upon reading that post, would assume that she was expecting to be gifted. Especially because it was the first thing in her post.
And while I can understand what you're saying, there's no way you can actually know the user's intent. For all you know, she could have been expecting to get something. And for the most part, phantoms pay little attention to user's wishlists. As one of them, I know. Most wishlist items are EI's, or MC's that generally go for rather large sums of gold.
And more than that, she made no effort to enter into a conversation whatsoever. Personally, I found her post to be rather rude, since she first and foremost directed everyone to her wishlist, then as an afterthought, tacked on "Merry Christmas." No, "hi," or "hello" or anything, just straight to the 'point.'
I can sympathize with Auro's frustration, since she's trying to go through the thread, which moves rather quickly, and make sure nothing's going wrong.
While I agree that flat out stating "I hope you get nothing but coal" was a bit rude, I can guarantee that quite a few people in the thread were thinking something along the same lines.
As for your suggestion to "just ignore" the posts in which users beg? That will not only do nothing to remedy the problem, but really, it will probably aggravate it. If the people who come into the thread just to post their wishlists and receive items aren't reprimanded at all, and rather, are ignored, that's setting the precedent that it's fine to do so. Which it's not.
But, again, it's all a matter of perception. What some view as being incredibly rude, is perfectly acceptable to others.
I apologize for reacting so harshly to your post, but it's a bit frustrating, as I saw Auro's post as merely upholding the rules of the thread. Still, that's no excuse to be so rude. I'm sorry.
