So, it looks as if I may need to step it up with updating my about me section. I seem to find myself with less and less time to do anything, lately. Haha. Hmmm, I'm lacking a rant topic, but let's see what I can think of right off of the bat.
Children of the nineties, rejoice. We are the topic of this rant. Particularly, how people act towards our ages and thus, how we are treated by the rest of society. Here, I will explain how I, myself, am not a child by any definition, and will ultimately dispel all of those nasty allegations. Please, follow along with me.
Every time someone asks me what my birth year was, they gasp in horror that I was born in 1990. Not because it was a bad year or because I am at some sort of risk because of it, but because they feel like that is so young. My friends, if I hear the phrase, "You were born that year? I still REMEMBER that year," I will begin ripping out other people's hair. 1990 was 19 years ago, folks. That's almost two decades, and therefore, no longer young. Friends that are only two-three years older than myself complain of feeling old while in my presence. Well, let me explain a few things to the "old-timers" out there.
1: I am a nineteen year old Marine, I hold down my job as a USMC cook very well, I am happily married to my eighteen year old wife((her birthday is coming soon. <^^> She's gonna kill me for telling.)), I will soon be living in my own house with her, and we may even be having a child soon. I think that has 'mature adult' written all over it.
2: By today's standards alone, you won't be 'old' until your late fifties/ early sixties. 22 year olds have no right to claim to be feeling old when 43 year old women are talking to me and acting my age. It's infuriating to constantly hear how young you are from someone who is only 3 years older than you. Newsflash, YOU'RE JUST AS YOUNG AS ME!!!
3: If you are older than me, and I prove that I am as mature/ more mature than you, do not call me young. I may be young of age, but not of wisdom and intelligence. Sure, I have moments where I act childish, but that's because it's fun, not because I act that way all of the time.
In closing, I just want to say that I in no way meant to offend anyone. I love you all, and don't want to hurt any feelings, but i needed to get this out there. I'll leave you with this note of wisdom; You're only as old as you believe.
