About
The son of the Saiyan prince Vegeta and the human engineering genius Bulma, Trunks seems destined for great things from a young age. It’s another matter entirely, though, for his destiny to come into play before he’s even born.Trunks first appears as a traveler from the future, come back to the present in hopes of preventing the destruction of Earth by an army of invading androids. Though he’s only a teenager, he’s a remarkably accomplished one, able to use many of his father’s abilities and his Super Saiyan transformation from an unusually young age.
In some ways, Trunks is clearly his father’s son – he has some of Vegeta’s overpowering pride in him – but he’s tempered by the experience of survival in his grim alternate timeline. He tends to be more cautious than his fellow heroes, reluctant to charge in without thinking and planning first.
The future Trunks and the actual Trunks aren’t exactly the same person, though. Thanks to the vagaries of time travel, Trunks changes his own development by preventing the world’s destruction (in the “main” timeline, anyway). As the Trunks who never traveled back in time grows older, he’s able to develop a more relaxed, pleasant personality, although he still has no shortage of power at his disposal.
