What defines insanity? The American Heritage dictionary will tell us that it is a persistent mental disorder or derangement and the courts will tell you it is a get out of jail free card. What does it mean to the ones who truly suffer? Is it the voices that trail their footfalls or the faces that peer up from their breakfast cereal? Is it the white walls of an asylum or the dark corridors of an unlit home? Could it be found within the loving arms of a family member as easily as those of a common harlot? Is it the thing that separates a loving father from one who beats his children? Is the question of insanity even something that could be answered in a way the human mind would understand? Further more! Would they even want to understand or would they cower in fear at the answer? So little of the human mind is used, would insanity⿿s answer unlock its full potential?

What is it that obtains so much power as to drive someone to insanity? Brain damage? Chemical imbalances? Or perhaps insanity is no more than someone's desired reality. We call those who hear things we cannot insane. We call those who see things we cannot insane. What if it is you who is insane? What if what you hear and are so familiar with is no more than your desired reality as what another hears and sees is to them. What if what you see is no more than what you want to see. What you see and hear is what you want to, what you expect to, and therefore is everyone else's definition of insanity and no more.

You see, in that way, we are all just a bit insane. Shunning what we do not believe belongs in our own reality. Shutting off everything that is not what we want to see or hear. What if you're the only truly insane person. How can you prove that what you believe to be real really is? What if it's all simply in your head. You could be the one sitting in a room. One that had been painted so long ago with the whitest of paints known to mankind, rocking yourself back and forth, taking shelter in your own desired reality as others feed you medication in attempts to bring you back to their desired reality.
