Welcome to my Gaia profile! My
name is Josephine, and I'm from South America.
I was born on 16th January 1991. I'm 16 years old.
As I live in the Southern Hemisphere, my summer lasts from
December to March. This means, my 2007 school year has just
started, practically. But that doesn't really affect me. The coming of
good grades
and a newly aquired ability to study and study have marked the start of
a good year.
While I have to overcome the school year and everything about it, the
one thing I long for is summer.
Why? Not because there is no school in it,
not because I get to be all day without doing nothing, but because of two
major things: my friends, and surf. Since I'm 12 and started wearing
Roxy clothing, I remember looking around in the store for surf advertise
ments, and I always had a feeling towards surf, but the moment of the
truth took place this summer. In a place called Punta del Este, located in
a South American country called Uruguay. I took a few surfing lessons,
and realised this would be my sport. By the end of the 15 last days of
February, I could only ride on 8 foot longboards. However, after school
started, we had Easter Holidays. These would last for a week. It was then
when I would go to Punta del Diablo, a place in which my family has a
vacation house. This seaside resort has one of the best waves in all the
country. It was there where I learnt to ride in a 6 foot shortboard. By my
second day there, I already had gotten used to the board.
Anyway, I won't bother you with more of my surf stories. My love for the
carefree and surfing kind of life that summer allows me to carry out is
one of the reasons why I love summer so much.
