Story update
Over the light colored rocks the steam flowed gracefully. The birds alerted all the other animals that the sun has raised and it is time to get prepared for winter. The squirrels stocked up on nuts and dry berries. The ducks were getting ready for their long flight. Every seemed to be in perfect harmony, except for one fox nest.
“Why we doing this mama?” the young fox asked eagerly. This was his and his sisters first winter. As the small fox said that, another small fox popped up out of the nest.
“Why Mama?’ She was also curious about what her brother brought up. The old owl up in the high red wood trees, sneering at the mother fox,, clearly disapproving of the questioning coming from the her children. The mother fox quickly sneered back and answered her children’s questions.
“We aren’t hibernating my dearest little ones.” The mother fox said in a soft tone. She then gave a quick glare to the old owl and continued explaining. “We are simply storing a back up plan, what is hibernating are the bears, opossums, squirrel, turtles, and skunks.”
“That’s almost every one” the young son fox said
“What about the birds, do they do any thing?” the daughter fox said
“Apollo, yes it is almost every one, Artemist, the birds fly south for the winter, were its warmer.” Said the mother fox.
“Leah! May I speak with you!” the old owl screeched at the top of her lungs. The mother fox, Leah walked over to the old owl.
“You wish to see me why, Marge?’ Leah asked. Marge scoffed and quickly replied.
“I prefer the name Margret, and you know why you’re here,” Margret began to pace on her perch. “You know quite well that I am top of the forest and that is not going to change just because your children are asking questions about unnecessary information.” Leah sighed and rolled her eyes. “And because I am at the top of this forest I make the rules.” Margret stopped and looked to see if Leah was paying attention to her lecture and began pacing again “like I always say, if you just let them question about thing Willie Nillie, the will start to-“
"Question authority, I know I know, but I can’t just let them have false facts about things! I had to answer those questions, they were not bad questions,” Margret just glared at Leah.
“I believe you should be more carful about the questions you answer from now on,” Margret tried to sound as wise as she could, but Leah knew she was faking it.
“Wait! What do you mean by more careful?” Leah asked. The owl turned to look at Leah.
“Isn’t it obvious? No unnecessary information! Answer questions about survival, or if their doing something right, for example, answer questions about foxes and not, oh say, humans.” Then Margret scoffed and flew off. Leah was infuriated.
“Ooh that witch!” Leah then stormed of to her nest, where Apollo and Artemist where waiting.
“What happened mama?” the siblings said in unisons. Leah just smiled and said.
“Old bag Marge was bugging me about something, I wasn’t listening”
“Ok” Apollo agreed, Artemist simply nodded her head.
Chapter 2, trouble makers.
“OUT! OUT!!!!!!” the old goose screamed at me and my brother. As we were running from the pond we found a good resting place to relax and talk.
“Happy now? You got to see a goose baby” my brother asked, I simply stuck out my tongue at him. We both laughed.
“Ok Apollo your turn! Where next?” I said eagerly to my brother. He came up with the most fun of places
“Let’s go to the gopher holes” he said. I simply gave him a look as if he was crazy! I always thought he said that the gopher holes were the most boring place on the planet!
“I learned a new game!” he said, eager to teach me.
“You learned it without me? Oh that’s just evil!” I said clearly wanting to learn.
“What fun would that be if you didn’t know the game? I wouldn’t have to teach you any thing!” My brother said as he walked towards the gopher holes, I followed as always.
Me and my brother Apollo love adventure, no one can stop us from having fun! No one can stop us! Not even that old bag Marge can stop us!
While the long trot towards the gopher holes, a opossum happens to fall from its tree right as Apollo was walking right under it.
“EEEY what’s up O-pollo?” the opossum said who I immediately recognized as Hermes. My brother simply sighs and replied
“Nothing Hermes, me and Artemis were heading towards the gopher holes to play the game you taught me!” He happily said. I looked at Hermes with no surprise. Hermes is always coming up with new games and questions about life.
“Oh hey, I want to come too!” Hermes replied quickly.
“Sure why not?” Apollo said with a faint sigh.
“YES!!” Hermes jumped of Apollo’s back, thought about it, then got back on Apollo’s back. Hermes is a lazy Opossum that hates any thing that had to do with fitness, except for playing. Hermes may be lazy but he is very playful. Hermes is best friend of Apollo.
“Are we there yet?” Hermes cried.
“No” I said in unison with my brother.
“Now?”
“No”
“Now?????”
“NOOOO!!!!” me and my brother yelled.
“Ok, ok sorry. Jeez grouchy much?” after that It was quiet till we got to the bear caves,
“Mom, MOM I AM CLEAN!” the youngest cub said, his name is Zeus. His mothers name is Cathy. Cathy is obsessed with Zeus because all of her other cubs grew up and left
“Zeus I haven’t checked for leftover meat in your fur!” Cathy yelled while chasing Zeus who was running strait towards us.
“Mom, I’m fine!” Zeus yelled back, Zeus then looked at us and said
“Move it! Lets go! NOW!” Of coarse my brother ran with Zeus and I ran after them.
Finally we arrived at the gopher holes, Hermes may be lazy but he is quite fast, Hermes ran to a gopher hole and said
“OK, Artemist, the game is called gopher whack, as a gopher pops up you go to pounce on it, got it?” Before I could respond Hermes answered for me by turning to Zeus. “Zeus, I think your too big to play.” Zeus only shrugged and sat down. Hermes started up again “You win buy pouncing on the most gophers, the gophers then won’t come up for an hour at least” Hermes paused, “I will yell a certain word to get the gophers out, you will know what it is by the word itself, the game is over when there are no more gophers” he then inhaled deeply and I readied myself, “CARROOOOOOTS!!!!!!” Hermes screamed and I toke of along with my brother and Hermes. After the starting word was said the gophers popped up and said,
“WHERE!?!?!?” soon enough we were done. Hermes had won as usual, he always wins at games were you need speed.
