Hey, I'm Selena Gomez. You might know me as Alex Russo from Disney Channel's Original Series, "Wizards of Waverly Place." I play the role of the active and mischievous middle child of a family of wizards, but my life outside the screen is very different.
I grew up as an only child. My mother, Mandy Cornett, gave birth to me at the age of sixteen. However, my parents divorced when I was of the age of five. Since `06, I got a step-dad named Brian. My mom named me after Selena Quintanilla Perez and I came from a Mexican and Italian lineage. I was raised in Grand Prairie, Texas and went to Danny Jones Middle School. I'm homeschooled now, but I still hang out with friends and do the same activities as any other kids.
Despite popular belief, my favorite color is actually green. I have four dogs; Willie, Chip, Fina, and Wallace. Chip was adopted from an animal shelter. In the past, I had turtles, rabbits and chickens. It's not surprising that I'm an animal lover. C:

•During the Christmas of `08, I came back to Texas to spend time with my family. It was my first time back there since the time I moved to California.
¤If I could have any magical talent at all, it would be to zap food whenever I'm hungry so that I could have a snack anytime.
•Since my stepfather grew up in Detroit, Michigan, my family often returns to visit his relatives for vacation.
¤I received a Mickey Mouse charm necklace as a gift from Disney Channel.
•Everywhere you go, you hear things that are untrue. You've just got to learn that if I don't say it, physically out of my mouth, on camera, it's not true.
¤The day I got my first letter from a fan, I felt like I'd been touched by an angel. I opened the note and read every single word the fan, Taylor, had to say. She told me she'd been to all of the tapings Wizards--it was unbelievable! I almost cried. I wrote her back this really long letter with an autograph to show her how sweet I thought she was.
•I've had my purity ring since I was 12 years old. But for me it's not something I want to go around saying, "Hey, look what I have." It's a promise I made to myself and God. I think some people misinterpret that as a trend and think everyone's getting one.
