Would you please describe to me what it is you do and why that falls under the category shamanism instead of simply witchcraft and Otherworld tradition? I'm thinking of writing a post on the nature of language, whether we can really assume it's an abstract system of communication or whether it is always politicized, and how the words we choose imply certain positionalities. I wanted to use shamanism as an example as I'm still not sure I'm comfortable with people who are not of actual shamanic cultures using the term without the prefix "neo" to it. I don't want to write from my assumptions, however, because I don't actually practice it, so I would love your input.
Lupa was so cute...she was so bouncy. She walked on the balls of her feet and jogged whenever she got the chance (she was setting a lot of stuff up in the room). She was also very articulate and did a great job talking about privilege and how her consciousness of it affects her work. I really like that she is trying to make her practice one that involves other people like in other traditional cultural practices in trying to make her own "American white girl" version. smile
It's a mixed feeling kind of breakup,
half of me wants to be bitter and go "Ha, I'm so better off now"
but, inside I feel like it was all a big mistake (Most of it was brought on by outside influences and not even a problem in our relationship)
It's one of those things that will remain unsolved unless I get direct answers from him kind of deals.
Omg omg.
I've been gone so long.
Long story short, I moved, my boyfriend and I broke up, and I was major ill.
But now I'll re-center my self and be back to the guild <3
I missed you guys T________T
Hi again, just thought you would find it neat that I actually saw Lupa in person. She was doing a workshop on her brand of neo-shamanism and did a ritual with the brown bear totem for healing. I didn't get to attend the ritual but it was nice to hear her talk about her neo-shamanism in person.
Do you think there are any problems with calling what you practice shamanism as opposed to "otherworld tradition"?
Ah, I see. It's that the person was trying to find which realms corresponded with which Egyptian concepts, and it isn't really possible. They're not directly translatable. I'm also not sure if the person who asked the question understands what they mean when they use the word shaman. Do you have any sites on "non-core" shamanism you could recommend to me? smile
Hi again, just wondering if you asked another person if there are Egyptian terms to correlate with "shamanic" realms. I dunno, came up on another website and made me think of you. Is there a source that encourages people to misapply shamanic practice to Egyptian conceptions? neutral
