Loveless is a story about a sixth grade, cat-boy by the name of Aoyagi Ritsuka, and his quest to find out not only his lost past but also to unravel who murdered his older brother Seimei, whose true name is "Beloved." Something happened to Aoyagi during his childhood that struck him with a split personality disorder and forget everything that became in his pass before he turned 10(?) Also, due to Ritsuka having lost his memory, he has a fetish for "Making Memories" to make sure that whatever comes about to him is real, and so he won't forget what transpired.
In the first episode Ritsuka gets transferred to a new school where he also meets his lifetime friend, Yuiko Hawatari, and his teacher, who she still has her cat ears on. (Their cat ears drop only when losing their virginity; yes, strange but true.) Then after his first day at school, he comes across with Soubi, his older brother's "Fighter", or "War Craft" in the manga.
With Soubi's help, Ritsuka starts to learn about what it means to be a "Sacrifice" and discovers that Seimei, before he was killed, was Soubi's "Sacrifice", and that he had requested Soubi to become Ritsuka's "Fighter" in order for his little brother, whose true name is "Loveless", to investigate the matter behind his assassination.
To do this, he and Soubi have to confront other Fighters and Sacrifices then battle against them while searching for the man who slayed Seimei. It is during these fights that we're witnesses to the most yaoi/shounen-ai action, because Ritsuka must constantly kiss, touch, and/or like Soubi to lend him strength in battle, as well as to deepen their "Bond", that all fighters and sacrifices must possess.
