Jukes spun an orb of light instead, casting it over the rail as they skimmed past the creature - still too close for comfort. The silvery sea-mist boiled away at its touch, revealing the illusion for what it was. He watched the wind scatter the remnants for a moment, and was about to go chastize the lookout when a faint flutter of motion caught his eye.
"So mean." The sprite pouted, balancing on the jib-boom as easily as a bird. "Must you always spoil my fun?"
"Find another ship to haunt." The mage frowned at the spectral imp. "We have more important things to worry about than your entertainment!"
"But if you kept sailing that way, you would've struck the reef." She shook her head, wide eyes feigning as much innocence as they could. "You didn't want to end up on the sand-beds, did you, with all the crabs pinching at your feet?"
