• Read Everything - Please read everything in this thread and all of the pride information in the guild. We wouldn't have taken the time to type it up if it wasn't important.
  
• One Entry Per Person - Self explanatory.
  
• Be Courteous and Respectful - If you're going to insist on flaming, take it elsewhere. We don't want to see it in this thread. Anyone breaking this rule will be disqualified from the contest, hands down.
  
• No Whining - It isn't the end of the world if you don't win this contest. Many RP contests take place in SoA and this is but one of them. We don't want any sour grapes. They aren't tasty.
  
• This is an RP Contest - Please do not enter if you do not intend to RP if you win. The Mzawa'kondo pride is still a relatively small one and we are holding this contest to increase the amount of active members. If you do not intend to RP please do not enter.
  
• This leopardess is a pre-existing pride members - Please read all of the information found in the following posts about her. Do not enter if you plan on deviating from it with massive personality shifts or if you plan on removing her from the pride.
  

[MzawaKondo Pride]

The Mzawa'kondo is a band of strong, warrior lions that have made their home in the ruins of what appears to be a natural amphitheater. The caves provide home and shelter for all who live there. The lake bordering their territory provides fresh water and an uncrossable border while the open grasslands provide the hunters with ample prey.

Both males and females in this pride are respected for their prowess, neither viewed as being 'weak' unless they prove themselves to be so. No one lion is viewed as being above the whole pride's well-being or safety. Everyone from King to the lowest rank would give their lives to protect another.

Size-wise, the Mzawa'kondo tend to range from larger than the average rogue to slightly smaller, depending on breeding and gender. Most males born of the pride are strong and well-muscled, built for defending their pride as much as they are battling those who rise against them. Females born of the pride are generally slightly smaller than the males with a sleeker build, making chasing after prey on the hunt easier. As the females hunt as a pack size does not often factor into how well one can perform her specific duty.

The lions of the Mzawa'kondo are very haughty when it comes to coloration. Variations of black, grey, white and brown are viewed as being 'natural' while all others (pinks, blues, greens, purples, etc.) are viewed as showing proof of 'outsider' blood. While these may be accepted in small amounts appearing on the coat they will always be viewed as being 'less' in terms of breeding status. No lion with unnatural colors may have claim to the throne.

Information on 'Outsiders' and Other Species

Outsider Ranks

Nje ya: Outsiders Any of those who were not born of, or into, the pride. Generally lions with non natural colors or other animal species. Servants and helpers to the blood pride members.
-Note- The term 'servant' holds no derogatory meaning when used in general terms, whereas the word 'slave' would hold many. Servants are usually very close to those that they serve, forming honorable bonds of loyalty and friendship. They are not considered to be less than any other rank as all ranks serve their purpose in supporting the whole.

Those not content with a status of servitude or apprenticeship without any means to raise their rank are welcome to leave at any time.

• Tazama - Those outsiders who have taken up the job of watching over cubs while their mothers are away.
  
  
• Mesenja - Those Outsiders who are the general messengers for the pride. They take messages between members of the pride or relay information from groups of hunters or warriors if needed.

The lion you will be trying for is a returning member of the pride and although younger they are on the verge of adulthood and should know how things work within the pride.

Backstory: This leopardess was born into the Mzawa'kondo pride and, as such, has lived their her entire life. Her mother and father had both chosen to serve the Mfalme and Malkia (Mfalme Shujaa's parents) in their time, leaving her to be brought up in their service as well, serving the Malkia until her daughter, Auri, was born, at which time she was instructed to look out for the little one. While others would consider the leopardess Auri's servant, Auri considers her a dear friend and thinks of her as no less than that.

Auri joined the Zengea upon her coming of age and her leopardess companion joined the Tazama so that she would have something to occupy her time while Auri was out, filling the young cubs with the stories of the pride that her parents had passed on to her when she was young. She took great pride in being able to teach the young ones as she kept an eye on them while their mothers and fathers worked to serve the pride in their own ways.

When the pride was attacked Mfalme Shujaa commanded his sister to run, not wanting anything to happen to the last remaining member of his family and willing to risk whatever part of her pride he may have hurt in telling her to do so, knowing that she had always been more a lover than a fighter even despite the way they had been raised. Her leopardess companion was given specific instructions to go with her and to not let her turn back until it was safe for them both to do so.

Their time away from the pride only served to strengthen their friendship and now they have both decided that it is time to return...

Shujaa's Sister, Auri: This is Auri. Her full name is 'Auri'haiba' which means 'golden grace', which should give you some idea about her personality. Auri is loving and loyal, spending a good deal of her time when she isn't needed hunting with the Tazama. She enjoys the old stories with the same light heart that she did as a child and her own gentle spirit is well suited for the caring of cubs.

OOC: Auri'haiba is played by Skye Starrfyre (the one typing up the contest info *waves*).

The leopardess probably would have just become an adolescent when Auri and Shujaa were born, putting a bit of distance between their ages, but not too much. She would have fond memories of the former King and Queen; of the Queen's kindness and the King's wisdom. She would also, most likely, have stories to tell of Mfalme Shujaa from when he was younger, most of which can be discussed with me after the contest. *big on talking about back-stories* XD

The Mzawa'kondo pride is all this leopardess has known. She does not see her life as being less because she serves others. She views it as blessed because she does something to help the whole.

Prompt One:

It is the night of the attack. Having retired for the evening, returning the kijana into the care of their mothers, you have found yourself answering the questions of Auri, as you have since she was but a kijana herself. Suddenly the sound of Shujaa's voice startles you awake as you hear his harsh whispering to his sister... And then he addresses you. He gives you the task of keeping his sister safe; of being the only member of her large pridal family to go with her into the wilderness for her own safety, and for yours. What are your thoughts throughout this encounter? How do you react? What do you say to Auri to keep her from turning back once you've reached the pride's borders and she hear the cries coming from your home?

-Note-: For the purpose of this entry you may write out some of Auri's actions, but please remember that your entry is for the leopardess and not her.

Prompt Two:

It has been several moons since you left the pride with Auri; several long moons since the attack. She has expressed anxiousness and a pressing desire within her to return. You awake one morning and she is not beside you. What are your thoughts on Auri's need to return to the pride? Do you feel this same need as well? What do you think when you awake to find Auri not there?
