in case of emergency:
don't forget to tap the breaks instead of slamming them
this helps you maintain traction instead of spinning out

ok i googled to double-check my advice
and if you mean anti-locking-brake-system (ABS), then that is exactly when you should be using a gentle brake-pumping method
(pls note I am referring to method 3, "threshold braking" )

Everybody gets so bent out of shape when the U.S. gov’t calls a snow day in the DC area but the truth of the matter is we don’t get enough snow for drivers to learn how to drive in it and the roads aren’t actually designed for it. There are turns that are negatively banked on 495 (the capitol beltway) and other sections that flood on a simple rainy day. Add people from all over the world that have only ever seen snow on TV and it’s a freaking disaster!
