I've never lost someone that close to me, and I can only imagine how you feel. I'll pray for you and your father, and I'll ask my friends to pray for you as well. I know there's not much I can say to you to change this, but I just wanted you to know that I'm praying.

Dear VO,
I have never lost anyone to cancer, or even been really close to someone with cancer, but I have experienced loss. I really do hope that your father has fun and love in his last weeks. I think your dad really is proud of you and he loves. Just remember that even when he is gone, he will always live on in your heart.

VO and Father: I have experienced a similar situation, but it was with an uncle diagnosed with lung cancer.
It was two years ago when I found it-- and he only had a week to live, and in a week it would be my birthday.
To make it short, he died on June 1st, the day before my birthday.
Ever since then I've always lived in fear of June 1st, but, like what kind people here on Gaia are doing, I received kind comforting words which were:

A strong mind and a strong heart come from a strong character.

Basically what it means is that an impressive, well characterized person can influence people who have become stronger in their years.

VO's father-- you have done a fine job with your son. Vo is proud of you, and from what I read in his journal, he cherishes all of the inspiration you have given to him.

As a final thought: Do not let bad experiences get you down-- let them make you a stronger person.

I understand how you are in pain at the diagnosis of cancer in your family.
My grandmother has a terminal cancer, and she too is slowly slipping in and out of health.
I can only pray for you and your kin each night, and hope that people will help you. I'm sorry for what is happening to you and hope that you will be alright.

I wrote a poem, so thought I'd share:
To Mr. Van Vo
May all of Gaia shed tears for you

It was the spring
when the cherry blossoms
were in full bloom

The wind was blowing harder
and the rain was pouring down
but yet the trees stood tall
bearing it through

It was starting to truly
get too tough
and the white pink petals
slowly drifted to the ground
like falling hearts

The petals fell
but gracefully in peace
for others were there
as support

A tear is shed
to show love
and sadness
and also pain
for a true hero:

Dear Vo
I am sorry to hear about your loss. I know what you are thinking Sorry can not change the fact that he is gone. But asa person who also lost a father I know that it will get better. I know there will be no more time you can talk to him but you will always have the very fond memories of you guys together. The mornings he woke you up with a smile. The afetrnoons you spent talking about how the day has been and how much you enjoy each other and the night times that you spent taking about the past together. I know that god has a reason for a death and everthing that happens. So please remember we at gaia all love you. We all will know you are a strong man no matter how many tears may fall from your eyes. a picture may say a thousand words but a memory will beat it all and tell you that someone loves you forever. I hope your life is good and this time of grievence will be long and loving. love you forever
