Past Experience (if any): I've tinkered around with a couple shops, I find I do much better when running things "under" someone else so to speak, and with the upcoming birth of my daughter, something such as this would be better suited than running things on my own. I've got a fair amount of owner/co-owner & colorist experience to sum it up.

The legend:

The cockatrice is the spawn of an Old Rooster's egg, he is an embodiment of evil or so it seams *Though mine might not be*. From him spawns Basilisks, horrifying dragonic creatures that make any creature turn to stone simply by gazing at it. Cockatrice are called the kings of serpents and can scatter any snake or lizard from anywhere, even the great Dragons cower at this king's hiss.
Cockatrice tend to be two legged, with the legs, head and wings of a Cockerel/Chicken, and the body/ tail of a serpent. Basilisks are four legged serpent like creatures with bird like heads or features.

Upon further study it seams Basilisks are the female, and Cockatrice the male of this odd species! The gender is determined by either a toad or a snake hatching the egg!

The facts:

Now most of the above is true, Female Cockatrice are known as Basilisks or "lisks" for short, males are the flighted Cockatrice or "trice". As a species any of these two may be referred to as "Trice".

Wilds, rares and commons:

~ Wild Trice are protected by the reserve, they date back to a time not known maybe to the birth of birds, original Trice show there heritage by looking either like a rooster or iguana in plumage. They are not normally up for sale as there not known to be as affectionate as common or the rare captive domestic varieties. If by chance you get one, be warned.

~ Common cocoticia domestica are the pets commonly sold here. They are breed in captivity and honed to show a wide unique variety of colours, attitudes and devotions. These tend to bond to there owners best and are known to breed, interact and generally are better pets.

~ Rare species are mutations, these types can show super talents in and of an element or divinity. These are as noted rare. Select few will be delighted by there presence. They truly are the kings and queens of there elements. These are also some of the most intelligent and loyal pets.

Now Cockatrice are the species of coarse, but there may be some confusion as to where basilisks come in on this. This post should clear that confusion.

This is the male Growth Chart. The male is determined by a toad favoring the egg. As you can see a male cockatrice Is more Avian, He can fly, tends to be very intelligent and can talk to some degree. He is known to be highly poisonous, King of serpents is a fitting term. Though he looks like a chicken he isn't, having may small rows of teeth in that beak he is a Serpent and will be offended is called anything but. The hiss of the Cockatrice can frighten even a dragon!

The female is called a Basilisk, she cannot fly but has a beautiful fin on her back that helps her swim very well, in fact she can run on water! Basilisks have a very potent gift, she cannot scare dragons but can turn them or any other creature literally to stone with those large huge eyes, her other prominent feature. More dragonic the basilisk tends to be sedate and loves sun. Also offended if called a bird.

Additional notes:

Sub species of the cockatrice can be found though there rare mutations, most distinct features only start to show in teen stages.

Most Important! Read first!:
#1. No art theft. Under no circumstances are Dragoil's images to be copied, edited or redistributed. I will keep a very detailed record of who has what, so no funny business! (Only Owners can Direct Link, only colourists may manipulate) . Those caught stealing or reselling without permission will be reported and listed! (and I'll need to use my extra space for a black list and we don't want that!)

#2. No Reservations. There will be none. Period. Don't ask. Outright buying only or Pet trades/customs.

#3. There are no owning limits. You may own as many Cockatrice as you like.

#4. Be patient. Constant PM's and nagging won't make us work any faster! You don't want an angry Dragoil/Moochi. Trust me.

#5. Don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions. If you have questions you can PM me. Or you can post your questions and/or concerns in the thread and I or one of my helpers will get back to you. Posting is preferred so my PM box doesn't get flooded.

#6. RP is optional, but encouraged. RP is currently done in shop, for those who want to, and we intend it to be fun! Please keep it PG-13. (Info Below in RP section)

#7. When a Cockatrice is Adult please host them yourself. Band width is limited! Posting the new link is loved.

#8. Show us you live! Just post to let us know your active and care for your pet.

#9. If you receive one, name it. If a trice goes to long without a name I will find a new caring home for it, don't neglect the babies! gonk

#10. Have fun! That's an order xd ! That's the whole point of Gaia! ^_^

Q: How do we get a Cockatrice?
A: Well you can catch a Flatsale, Auction or Raffle or wait out a Quest.

Q: Quest?
A: read the Quest Post below.

Q: How long dose it take for them to grow?
A: From egg to baby, roughly a week to a week and a half maybe more, maybe less. It really depends on the toad or snake as they are cold blooded its hard to warm those eggs! From baby to teen, one and a half to two weeks. From Teen to adult, Two to three. In total a month and half to two months depending, no more than that though.

Q: Do you Pet trade?
A: Yes and this is one of the only ways you can get me to colour a cockatrice. I am discriminatory though and just because you offered a trade doesnt mean I'll take it. If your not on my list I'll look your pets over but may not say yes. Be warned.

Q: Are you hiring?
A: Only if there is a contest open and only for what is being offered.

Q: Do we have to RP?
A: No these are not an RP mandatory pet. Mind you I need the shop to live so posting in shop is recommended, we like to know you are alive!


Q: Can I get a custom?
A: Possibly, but they cost, Customs/Cos-play full with line edits are 500k

Q: How did this person get a pet? There was no sale!
A: I do pet trades at all times and customs. Some times I may randomly give a pet to a person who I feel deserves one. Yet another reason to haunt and help this thread.

Q: Why are some going for cheaper?
A: Ah! those are special, there cheaper because they don't differ in colour at all, there carbon copies, But for those who can't buy a normal one there good ^^ mainly you get a changing editable pet.. its debatable if the wilds will breed in captivity.. possibly but maybe not.

Cockatrices are a NON-RP Pet, This doesnt mean you can't RP them, If you wish to RP your Cockatrice, benefits will happen!

Rules:
~ As in all threads this is a PG13 RP shop.
~ Be kind no flameing cause someone doesnt RP like you.
~ No god modding. That at best is done by me IF there is an important event!
~No killing another persons PET, without there approval anyhow.
~ Have fun!


The Setting:

Cockatrice are a pet from a period in our history, they come from europe and as such tend to feel most at home in forests, glens and castles.

They tend to band in rooks, That's there chicken half coming to the surface.. but that's where it ends. Males may fight with there long talons..but its a bloody affair.

Currently you stand in front of a hut, its thatched with lovely Tudor walls, a garden with a large hen house sits outside. Within that hen house is a host of Basilisks and a great Cockatrice, the basilisks will stair at you if you look at them.. some stone figures are in the yard.. those who looked too long.
To one side is an extensive forest and to the other a great lake. You crossed a rock bridge in order to get to the cottage. The bridge spanning a stream leading into the forest and the only way to reach this bank.

Smoke billows outside as the fire inside warms the cottage. You know from your travels, several acres of forest line this lake.. the Forrest and lake of the Cockatrice. The forest is thick and impassable.. only the beasts dwell there. The only habitation, this cottage, is where most people encounter the tamer variety of the vicious species of serpent, you have quested to know the truth and here you are about to find out...

Cockatrices do breed and usualy have clutches of one to three eggs.

The offspring usualy have colours and traits of both adults!

The use of the Facility costs a bit for maintinance though.
A charge of >Pending< Is needed for up keep.
