You come across a lone signpost situated firmly beside an old wooden gate.
- A young girl was strolling through the marketplace near her home, looking for new and exotic plants to add to her garden. She didn't just like gardening, she loved gardening. All her free time was spent tending to it, planting seeds and cultivating wild life. Her garden had garnered many awards, earning it the reputation of being the best in the land.
A curious vendor spotted her across the way and beckoned her forward with a curl of his fingers. He showed her a batch of seeds that were slightly misshapen - as if the furry ears of a puppy were trying to break through. Intrigued, the girl bought a tiny sack full of them.
His instructions rang clear in her head as she worked in her garden later that day. 'These seeds are strange, that they are. You must plant them exactly four feet deep and water them three times a day. The same time each day! That's important. The next time the moon takes on a crescent, the seeds will grow. By the third crescent, they'll be ready to scoop out.'
Scoop out? The girl shook her head and laughed softly. Plants couldn't be scooped! That would ruin the roots.
But she followed his instructions exactly as he'd told her. They were watered at nine in the morning, two in the afternoon and six at night. On the night of the last crescent moon, the girl watched eagerly from her bedroom window until sleep took over. The next morning she rushed out to her garden, no sooner than she had woken up.
The sprouts were... odd. They were firm, warm and fuzzy. The girl shrugged it off and pulled out a small shovel to get a sense of what had grown under the sprout. As soon as she touched the shovel to the earth, the sprout twitched! She used her hands instead, pulling up clumps of dirt so rapidly they sprayed back on her gardening apron. Her fingers wrapped around something wriggling, a... body? She pulled it out to get a better look; the light hit the baby plant and it squealed so loud she thought her eardrums would burst. She wrapped it quickly in her apron and carried it inside her cottage.
Once inside and shielded from the sun, she examined this odd plant. It didn't like regular food, it preferred to be watered and fed fertilizer or harvesting grains - but it sounded and felt like a bunny! She sheltered that one for the rest of the day and when night finally came, she dug out the other ones. Over the next day she realized that loose cloth bags would be the best way to keep them safe from the sun.
Soon all the babies grew into children, or saplings, as she called them. They were rambunctious but they loved the young girl dearly. In what seemed like only days they were fully grown adults, moving about her garden to tend to chores she would normally take care of.
With new help and a growing garden, the girl began experimenting. She started planting the bunny seeds in thick blocks of ice, in the sand that lay at the bottom of her small ponds and lakes, in the tallest peaks of the mountains, even in the clouds themselves! When it was time to collect her new batch of bunny-plants, the girl made an exciting discovery. Depending on where she planted them, they would grow with a new appearance! Some had wings and others had long serpent tails and even fins! The girl decided it was time to share her gifts with the world.
Still, she had not planted those seeds everywhere she wanted...
