I have revamped the quest thread that I was using back in 2004 as to not take up forum space. It's why although this thread was started in '04 it features a quest I've started in '08.

I'm an old player from 2004. School and what-not forced me to temporarily retire from gaia, and before I left I gave all my items away so they'd stay in circulation. Now I've come back and am trying to get some of my old favorites back. Unfortunately they're collectively now worth about 10,000,000 gold.

Since the items I'm questing for cost so much, I need some major help to get up there. So I'm sponsoring a gold prize system I saw on someone else's quest thread. Here's how it works. Whoever donates to me or purchases one of my items from my store for the right amount to reach one of my milestones will get a gold prize.

Milestones

100,000 gold = 10,000 gold prize (up to when I get 1,000,000 gold)
1,000,000 gold = 100,000 gold prize (up to when I get to 10,000,000 gold)
10,000,000 gold = 1,000,000 gold grand prize

If you buy from the marketplace, you're already participating. However if you want a bigger shot at winning gold, donate to me or buy from my store. If you don't believe me about me awarding prizes, just ask one of my lucky winners listed in the milestones post below. Once I reach my 10,000,000 gold goal, there will be a secret, 1,000,000 gold worth prize for whoever helped me bump my thread the most.

Also, expect a lot of gold to be flying around to everyone when the day comes that I finish the quest. This thread will eventually become a charity, priority going to donators, affiliates, bumpers, and other charities or quests in need. That day won't be for another year or so unless my luck increases soon, but I will not forget those who helped me in the early days of this quest.

There will be a new even more interesting quest with better prizes once this goal is met, so keep your eye on this quest once I complete it.. wink

Rules:
1. Follow gaia ToS and the forum rules and guidelines
2. Do not quote posts from the first page
3. No harrassing other bumpers or begging. Advertising your quest is ok
4. Do NOT whine about not winning the prizes. Random drawings are just that, random. If you PM me being ungrateful for not winning or being ungrateful for a prize you did win, I will remove you from all future drawings. Period.

Violators of my thread rules will have their post reported and will be added to the Black List.

7/26/09:
I've added a new post to the front page: Lists. There I will honor those who deserve an extra thanks and banish those who might become enemies of the thread in the days to come. Hopefully the white list will continue to grow while the black list stays empty, but it's there just in case.

I keep track of all my donators as a way to say thank you for your contributions. Also, I keep track of the donations I receive as I plan on giving out a secret thank you gift to all of my donators once I complete my quest. No donation is too small to be recognized, and it is all very much appreciated. Even items that are not on my quest list are accepted as they can be sold in the marketplace.

Every bump is greatly appreciated as it increases the chances of a random donator seeing my thread. It's encouraging seeing people continuously supporting me in this quest even if they're unable to donate.

Whenever I reach a milestone, I award the lucky person who purchased the item from my store or donate the right amount that helped me reach that milestone. A prize is given for every 100k milestone (100k, 200k, 300k, etc.) I reach, then for every 1 million milestone (1 mil, 2 mil, 3 mil, etc.) I reach. One lucky person will receive the grand prize when I reach the long awaited milestone of 10 million gold. However I will not be updating my current gold status so that people cannot cheat and donate/buy at the exact right time intentionally to win these prizes.

The reason I give out prizes is to help spread the wealth. I'm aware that I'm considered a 'wealthy' gaian, and I have an ambitious quest that I'm doing fairly well in. A lot of you are doing your own quests, and once I've reached my goal I will give back to my generous donators and quest affiliates. But I figure that I might as well give out some stuff along the way too. Sure, it makes my quest longer to accomplish, but it's going to take a while anyway.

These contests are my way to say thank you to everyone who bumps my thread. Not only do you keep the thread alive with your bumps, you also put the thread where other gaians who wish to donate can see it. It is encouraging to read all your posts and see that you all believe in my ability to reach my goal. Without you, I would probably have abandoned my quest some time ago, so thank you.

Once a month, I will run a series of drawings. Depending on how many times you bump this thread, you will qualify for different winning categories. These will be equal opportunity drawings where if you qualify you have just as much chance to win as everyone else who qualifies. However, you can qualify for multiple drawings. 2009 End-Of-Year Mega Drawing

As I did in 2008, I will be tallying all the bumps made in my thread in 2009. At the end of the year, I will have gaia choose a random number to choose the winner of the gold prize, which will be 10% of the total gold I have at the end of the year. It promises to be a large amount of gold, at least 200,000 gold. The more you bump, the higher your probability to win the Mega Drawing. The actual drawing will be done sometime in the first week of 2010.
