Introduction

Welcome to the planning thread for the Celebration Collective!
If you're interested in participating in the Collective, please read on.

Some of you may have heard of the Mini-Shop Collectives.
They were started by Mau, who ran numerous successful Collectives,
and the tradition has been kept alive by various members of the Mini-Shop community.
These Collectives were mainly seasonal-themed and ran for a limited time.

The Celebration Collective, however, isn't going to be quite like past Collectives.
It's more of a mini-Collective which will, hopefully, run year-round,
and will have items geared towards celebrations such as birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, etc.

Since this is a new thing, we're probably going to do a test-run first.
If the test-run is successful, we'll continue to keep the Collective going.

Any and all suggestions are welcome!

Basic Information

What is a Collective?
A Collective is a single thread where many different artists gather together and sell their themed products.
In the past, the Collective has served as an ordering thread where people could go to collect graphics to decorate their sigs, journals, and quest threads. It has always been a lot of fun to participate in the Collective and to look at all of the different artists' artwork.

Due to the number of people who usually participate, the artists' work is displayed on a website for easier ordering and convenience.
Also, in the spirit of the Collective, as well as because of the mass amount of ordering, profits are split evenly between all the artists when the Collective is over.

There are restrictions and rules to abide by when submitting and ordering, so if you'd like to learn more, please read the entire front page before posting!

What can be submitted?
It can be art, graphics, pixel art, animated art, avatar edits, even pixel pets...but all work must be generally non-customizable.
This is not an extension of a single artist's shop; orders are placed through a thread and the subject material is sent out from a private, shared Photobucket account that only trusted Shop Helpers have access to.
Since more than one person will be sending out orders, it is important that the work submitted has no special instructions so that nothing needs to be changed by the artist later. The only exception to this rule is avatar edits and certed items.

Of course, all work has to be the artists' own.
Any person found to be submitting work that is not their own will be banned from the thread, have their share of the profits forfeited, and be reported to a moderator for art theft.

In addition, all work submitted must adhere to Gaia sig requirements:
maximum of 500 x 500 pixels and 100KB.

Remember to send two images of your finished work: the sample image and the normal image.
The sample image is just a copy of the original with "sample" or a big "S" written across it for display on the thread/website.
The normal image will be PMed to the customer after they have finished the trade.

Because of the nature of the minishop, only certain work can be submitted. The list and its specific rules are below:

Pixel and Hand-drawn Art
  • It must be sig-friendly - maximum of 500x500 pixels and 100kb.
  • It must be the artist's own work.
  • Please keep the work relevant to the celebration theme
    (birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, etc.).
  • It should be non-customizable, pre-made art, graphics, and pets
(certing - adding the customer's username, name for the pet, etc. - is allowed).
  • Work submitted to the Collective may not be sold in your Mini-Shop. The appeal of the Collective is that everyone can come to one place to do all of their ordering!
  • Remember to send a sample image and a normal image.
  • Remember to send the prices for your work when you submit your images. Check the Pricing Guide or ask in the thread if you're unsure of what to price your work.

Avatar Edits
  • It must be sig-friendly - maximum of 500x500 pixels and 100kb.
  • It must be the artist's own work.
  • Please keep the work relevant to the celebration theme
    (birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, etc.).
  • They should generally be non-customizable, pre-made avatar edits. Nothing should have to be edited except for replacing the base (or recoloring, if you choose to allow the option).
  • Edits can also be sold as-is, but they will be included in the main section of pre-made art, not with the avatar edit section.
  • You can fill all of your edit orders yourself OR you can delegate your orders to one of the other editors to fill. However, if you delegate them, be sure that your edit is in a format anyone could use.

Profile Themes
  • It must be the artist's own work.
  • Please keep the work relevant to the celebration theme
    (birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, etc.).
  • They should be non-customizable, pre-made profile themes. Nothing should need to be changed or re-coded after ordering.
  • Since profile themes are in such demand, the prices on them can get pretty high. If you are planning on submitting profile themes, please keep the quality and pricing under 3k. Because of the way the Collective is run and set up, expensive profile themes will not sell, so it is in your best interest to follow this guideline.

F.A.Q.

I'd like to submit my work to the Collective! What do I need to do?
First off, please read the whole page before you do anything else.
Once you've done that, fill out the form provided in the Artist Information post. You may post the form here or PM it to CelebrationJubilee.
Give us your name, your shop link (so we can link to your shop, though it isn't required), and some samples of your work.
Anyone can join!

I'd like to help with setting up the thread, filling orders, updating, etc.
Great! We'd love to have you!
Just fill out the form provided in the Helper Information post. You can either post the form in the thread or PM it to CelebrationJubilee.
Provide your name, about how much time you can set aside for the collective, and what you want to do...it's that simple!
How much help you provide is completely up to you.

So how exactly does this work?
Artists create their own work and submit it to the shop mule. All submissions are then uploaded to a shared Photobucket account that is password-protected. The work is displayed on a website under the artists' respective names.
Buyers look through the work on the website, either by section or by clicking on the artists' names, and figure out what they want. Orders will then be placed through a thread in the Mini-Shops forum, and trades are sent to a mule account (CelebrationJubilee) created and maintained by trusted Shop Helpers.
Artists will be paid on the last day of each month, if scheduling works out.

What exactly is allowed to be submitted? Anything?
Almost anything.
All submissions must be themed after some sort of generic celebration, such as birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, etc. In addition, the submission must be made completely by the artist and only the artist.
Submissions can include but are not limited to art, graphics, pixel art, animated art, avatar edits, pixel pets, etc. For the most part, anything you could sell in your Minishop that is non-customizable could be sold in the Collective.

Just some clarification...
Any sig-friendly, hand-drawn or computer-created art or graphic that can be sold at a set price for the duration of the Collective is accepted. No work is to be drawn or customized for individuals once the work has been submitted and the shop has opened.
Minimal exceptions are made for avatar edits and certs, the orders for which will be filled by the individual artist or a delegated Shop Helper.
Avatar edits may not be custom. The only customizing that can be done is the addition of the individual base of the customer. This may seem restricting, but it will help the ordering and delivery flow smoother and cut down on complaints.
If anyone has an issue with this, we can always try to work something out.

Can I submit collaborative work?
Yes, you can. However, you and the other artist(s) will only be paid one artists' share. In other words, you'll have to figure out how to split the gold between yourselves.
Also, please let us know if you are submitting something like this so that we can give credit to all artists on the website.
Artist Information

When you are submitting the finished work, please remember to send it in a PM along with how much you're going to sell it for to CelebrationJubilee, the shop mule.

Deadline
Since this Collective is on-going, the deadline for submissions will be the 15th of each month.
Work submitted before that date will be added before the end of that month; work submitted after that date won't be added until the end of the next month.
For example, if the deadline is April 15th, work submitted before April 15th will be added to the website by April 30th. Work submitted after April 15th won't be added until around May 31st.

Submissions
Once your work is complete, make sure to PM it to the shop mule, CelebrationJubilee.
Please keep submissions sig friendly (under 500x500 pixels and 100kb) and celebration themed.
Two images must be submitted. One will be the image that is PMed to the buyer and the other will be the sample image that is displayed on the thread/website. A sample image is just the normal image with a large "S" or "sample" written across it to prevent people from stealing the work without paying.
Make sure to indicate the prices for your items!
If you don't include prices, we won't sell it. If you don't know how much to sell it for, ask in the thread, consult another artist, or check out the Price Guide (post 6).
Also, there's a list of ideas (post 6) in case you don't know what to make.

Payment and Perks
Every artist is paid an equal share from the whole profit of the Collective at the end of each month, regardless of how much he or she actually sells.
All artists who submit work receive 50% off of their orders from other artists.

Other Important Stuff
All work is credited to the artist that made it!

Also, a certain number of interested parties, at least 15-20, is required or the Collective will have to be closed. Gathering interested artists has never been an issue, so there shouldn't be a problem. There's no limit to how many artists we will sign; the more the merrier!

You may always post or PM CelebrationJubilee with questions if you have any.

How to become an Interested Artist
Just fill out the form below and post it in the thread or PM it to the shop mule.
Your samples do not have to be celebration themed, but the work you submit for the Collective does.

Helper Information

All official Helpers must have previous experience with the Collectives!
There are easy ways to get involved without being an official Helper.
You can bump, chat, and even help answer questions, for example.

Shop Helpers
Helpers edit the thread if necessary, reply to questions, confirm trades, and help with delivery.
We have a shop mule, CelebrationJubilee, to use for easier access. This will allow multiple people to manage the shop.
Only trusted members of the Minishops community and people who have been on Gaia for at least six months can help with the main shop tasks.
It's probably best that we keep those tasks restricted to a small few so that mistakes and miscommunication are limited.

Shop Layout
We will need a small, easy-to-use website to show what is being sold, who is selling it, and how much it is being sold for. This allows the buyers to easily sort through all of the artists' work and make their selection.
Here is a great example of what the website should be.

Helpers with this should have basic HTML and javascripting experience. You don't have to know CSS, but some moderate knowledge of frames would be excellent since a frames site is easier to order from.
If you're interested, please post or PM CelebrationJubilee.

Delivery
Delivery is difficult if you don't have enough people! With the insane amount of orders, it's difficult to keep up and still be on time.
Since several different people will be filling orders and delivering them, it's important that a deliverer has good communication and organization skills. It's also crucial that a deliverer is trustworthy and willing to dedicate time to their responsibility.

How to become a Helper
Just fill out the form below and post it here or PM it to CelebrationJubilee.
If you post now but find out later you can't do it, that's alright. Let us know and we'll take your name off the list.

Price Guide

For newbies and oldbies alike, this is an on-going project to help artists price their artwork for sale in the Collective. :3

All artists are welcome to contibute their own sample images to this guide. ^^
However, we ask that those items are not sold in the actual Collective.

The samples will be divided into tiers based on the price ranges given to them by other artists.

Very small computer graphic with good shading, but few colors and little to no detail - 10-15g

Group 2: 25-99g
Small computer graphic with limited shading, colors, and details - 30-80g
Small computer graphic with limited shading, colors, and details - 25-75g
Small computer graphic with good shading and vibrant colors, but limited detail - 50-60g
Small computer graphic with vibrant colors, but blotchy lines and no shading - 25-50g
Medium computer graphic with vibrant colors, but uneven and blotchy lines with no shading - 25-75g
Small pixel doll with good shading, but limited details and plain colors - 75-100g

Group 3: 100-199g
Large computer graphic with lots of color and detail, but limited to no shading - 100-125g
Medium computer graphic with bright colors and shading - 125-150g
Medium traditional graphic with limited color and detail - 125-199g

More price tiers will be added once there are samples for them.

    -pops in quietly-

I have an idea for that collective.
Maybe we could have a group of people in the collective who could offer a service, were if people need caters or gift-makers for their party they could hire someone from the collective.

    -sits in corner-

    Kara Winters
If I may suggest something but how about things for a baby/child shower for those people in breedables who like to have pets that start from baby. I notice those ones always have journals for items and people always likes to welcome new owners.
