    Hullo and welcome to our first (and probably last) art contest, co-hosted by Nahri and mazurkaa (RL friends). This art contest is for the 6 OCs that Nahri created at the beginning of high school for her friends, whom the characters are all based on. Although no complete story has been fully realized, these characters are still very near and dear to our hearts. <3

* FAQ

    • Can I submit more than one entry?
    - Of course! However, only one prize will be awarded per entry. You can, however, win multiple non-artistic prizes under the Mini Contests section in post #13.

    • Can I submit pixels, avi-edits, dolls, writing samples, etc?
    - Pixels are allowed, but you cannot use a pre-made base. Everything must be of your own work. No avi-edits or writing samples please.

    • Can I draw your avatars?
    - No. Please only draw us art of the characters listed in this thread.

    • Can I draw my characters with your characters?
    - Please don't.

    • Is tasteful nudity allowed?
    - No. You can draw the boys without shirts on, and that's about it. These characters aren't meant to be "mature."

    • Can we collaborate with other artists?
    - Sure, but you're responsible for splitting up any prizes you win.

    • What happens if the entry requirements are not met by the end of the one-month extension?
    - There will be only one extension. If entry requirements aren't met by the end of the extension, the contest will still end and adjusted prizes will be given out.

    • So-and-so stole their artwork!
    - Please PM us about it.

    • Can I watermark my entry?
    - Sorry, but no. For our viewing pleasure, please only discreetly sign your artwork.

    • Why didn't you oooh and aaah over my entry? Does that mean you don't like it?
    - Not at all! In order to be fair to all contestants we want to limit our comments to "Thank you" until the award ceremony. THEN you'll get all our adoration and praises. :]

    • Will you comment/critique my entry before I submit it?
    - Yes, if you PM your entry to us asking for a critique we will give you one. HOWEVER, we will only be commenting on technical things such as "Claye's eyes are blue not gray. You forgot her ____" etc. We won't say anything like "Her anatomy needs work." or "I don't like this color." We do feel that this is fair because this is an option open to all contestants.

    • What does the uniform consist of?
    - The uniform is technically just the uniform shirt (color depends on type of magic) and the character's choice of a bottom. Although the bottoms are different for each character, please stick to the reference images! If you draw them in uniform, do not create your own bottoms for them!

    • Does each character have a different magic power?
    - Yes. The 6 in 6Magic refers to the 6 main characters and their 6 powers: Air, Earth, Fire, Light, Shadow, Water. If you click on the "uniform" link in each character's section or scroll down to the "Clothing Design" post, you can find each character's power.

    • Who is this Mito? And why doesn't he have a section?
    - Mito is Claye's love interest. Like Nahri, his magic power is Water. He doesn't get his own section because he's a minor character and we don't have the monies to award for minor characters. :'(

    • What is the setting for 6Magic?
    - There are many alternate universes. If you draw them in uniform, then they live in a dorm. Their academy has a fantasy setting (so nature, village/markets, or futuristic/steampunk. Think Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles). If you don't draw them in uniform, the setting should be everyday/modern, or it should match the theme of the entry.

Nahri is a daydreamer; she always has her head in the clouds. She's easily distracted, silly, naive, and sometimes immature. However, when it comes down to her beliefs, she is extremely passionate but somewhat idealistic. She can get caught up in her emotions, which tends to obstruct her rational thinking. Nahri can be a bit slow, but she is not stupid. She's easily amused, usually optimistic, and doesn't get angry easily, but watch out when you do make her mad. She's also a bit of a slob and tends to lose/forget things and procrastinate.

Claye is one of the best and brightest students at school. She always gets perfect marks and doesn't like settling for anything less. Claye doesn't like criticism and enjoys being right. Although she usually hides her feelings and seems mysterious, she's actually very sensitive to the emotions of others. Those who are close to her---her friends and family---are very, very important to her, and she can get pretty overprotective of them. At first glance, Claye seems quiet/shy, but around her friends, she can be silly, cheeky, and frustratingly obstinate. She has a mischievous side and likes to play pranks.

Frankie is a natural flirt. He's not bad at anything (except maybe dancing) and always seems to do well without trying hard. Things just always come easily to him. He's very social and laid-back, and always talks about doing grand things, but his actions are always smaller than his words; he lacks the diligence to make his ideas into reality. Frankie looks down on people who are shallow or "untalented" but he's still nice to everybody, because most importantly, he wants everyone to like him. He's also good at twisting situations so that he cannot find himself at fault. Despite all this, people like him because he's fun and easy-going, and because he is caring towards his closest friends.

Adele comes from a wealthy family and can be rather stuck-up and condescending. She's smart, studious, and a perfectionist---basically, a typical goody-two-shoes who always listens to adults and respects authority. She rarely relaxes and has poor social skills. In fact, she's rather unpopular and has few, if any, friends. Adele is very beautiful and attracts a lot of male attention, but she doesn't know how to handle it. Even though she does want to have relationships, she's afraid and hides herself in books. Adele respects knowledge, but hates being wrong; she can't stand people who are "stupid" or contradict her.

Trolly is a foreign exchange student; she's sensitive about her name. She's energetic, athletic, and competitive. She works hard at everything she does, even though she isn't naturally skilled at anything but sports. Hardly anything tires her out, and she doesn't sleep a lot. Still, she manages to be constantly cheerful and optimistic, and make time for her friends. Although Trolly is tough physically and emotionally, she has a fear of being alone. At the same time, she's almost "afraid" of getting in a relationship and has determined that she doesn't have time for a boyfriend anyway (she doesn't).

Kriportheroneo, aka Kris, is the son of the King's cousin (the important thing is that he has royal blood in him). He has a very high opinion of himself and exudes arrogance, but in a very quiet and detached manner. He usually doesn't smile and, especially when he's at home, tends to feel sorry for himself because he hates his "dull life". Basically, he's a typical teenage, angsty, self-pitying drama llama. His parents care very much for him but are strict and hold him to high standards (which he resents). For the most part, he meets his parents' expectations, but he wants to be independent and isn't sure how. Despite his cold front, Kris is secretly a hopeless romantic.

    COUPLES


    YOU DO NOT NEED TO READ EVERYTHING HERE... but we tried to make the relationships short and interesting.

    To search for a pair, just use:

      the order doesn't matter, both are listed.

    the ones with a * are especially good couples to pick. :) that doesn't mean you shouldn't pick the other ones though!


    * NAHRI x FRANKIE || FRANKIE x NAHRI

      nahri and frankie are close friends. but they like each other. but they're not dating. we're not sure why either. still, images of them together should be cute, sweet, or funny---preferably all three :'D (please NO full-on kissing or anything 'passionate')

    * NAHRI x CLAYE || CLAYE x NAHRI

      these two are BFFs and have known each other since they were itty bitty kids. although their personalities are quite different, they've been friends long enough to read each others' minds. claye likes to prank nahri, and nahri tries to retaliate, but those attempts usually end up as failures or catastrophes.

    NAHRI x ADELE || ADELE x NAHRI

      nahri and adele had a rocky start because of a love triangle with frankie (see adele x frankie). in the beginning, adele scorns nahri because of nahri's 'stupidity' and 'lower' class. however, this just serves to cover up her jealousy of nahri and frankie's relationship. eventually, adele and nahri come to an understanding and become friends, so you may portray them before or after this happens.

    NAHRI x TROLLY || TROLLY x NAHRI

      with these two, you'd probably hear them before you'd actually see them. nahri and trolly are pretty good friends and, unfortunately for those around them, are obnoxiously and embarrassingly loud when together (perhaps why they like each other so much). they are stress-relief buddies and bond over doing stupid but fun activities.

    NAHRI x KRIS || NAHRI x KRIS

      there's not much to say about this relationship. kris and nahri are friends through claye, and like to tease and poke fun at each other. occasionally, kris will act all older-brotherly and show concern for nahri, but there are absolutely no romantic feelings between the two.

    * CLAYE x MITO || MITO x CLAYE

      it took a reeeally long time for these two to admit their feelings to themselves. it took even longer for them to admit their feelings to each other. claye and mito are the classic cute/romantic couple (complete with occasional lovers' quarrels). pictures of mito trying to woo claye, or of them teasing each other are especially welcome. :')

    CLAYE x FRANKIE || FRANKIE x CLAYE

      claye and frankie are close friends, and nothing more. claye introduced frankie to nahri, but sometimes regrets having done so, as she now has to compete for nahri's attention XD (see frankie x nahri). the two are also competitive when it comes to academics, but it is all in goodwill.

    CLAYE x ADELE || ADELE x CLAYE

      although claye and nahri have the same class background, from the start, adele has a lot more respect for claye than she does for nahri. it had something to do with claye's *extraordinary* intelligence (and her lack of romantic interest in frankie). claye sometimes studies with adele and adele comes to claye to talk about "sophisticated things that nahri wouldn't understand."

    CLAYE x TROLLY || TROLLY x CLAYE

      trolly and claye have similar hobbies. trolly likes to take claye to play sports, such as tennis, and claye likes to feed trolly her kitchen concoctions (it's a delicate system of working out and being fatties). the two are also drama-watching buddies.

    * CLAYE x KRIS || KRIS x CLAYE

      kris is like an older brother to claye. somehow, with her constant wheedling and freeloading, claye managed to worm her way into his life. but kris keeps 'family' and 'business' separate; when it comes down to academics, claye is his competition. their relationship is completely platonic, but they often get mistaken as a couple.

    FRANKIE x ADELE || ADELE x FRANKIE

      adele used to reaaally like frankie because he was her study partner in one of their classes together. as adele tends to be socially awkward, frankie was the first guy to really be kind to her. after that, she became infatuated with him, baking him cookies, making him lunch, etc... frankie never fully returned her feelings but enjoyed her attention so didn't really do much to stop her.

    FRANKIE x TROLLY || TROLLY x FRANKIE

      frankie and trolly are just friends. they don't really have a special relationship, though trolly got rather angry at frankie when he neither discouraged nor responded to adele's feelings. but other than that, they're just two friends who act goofily and have fun together.

    FRANKIE x KRIS || KRIS x FRANKIE

      as facebook so aptly puts it, "it's complicated." and no, they are not secretly homosexual and in love with each other. frankie and kris are 'friendly' rivals who know each other through the girls. they enjoy good competition (academic and athletic) from time to time, but there is tension (see frankie x adele and kris x adele).

    ADELE x TROLLY || TROLLY x ADELE

      adele and trolly are roomies, and trolly probably knows adele best. at first, there was some tension in the room because adele tends to be a perfectionist and trolly is very tomboyish, but after they learned more about each other, the two became really close.

    * ADELE x KRIS || KRIS x ADELE

      their relationship is complicated. the first time they meet is in class, where kris and adele butt heads (not literally). she basically answered a question in class and he refuted it. the two both come from wealthy backgrounds, but kris has a higher status, which he holds over adele's head. it almost seems as if they're rivals, competing all the time, but gradually they learn more about each other and their feelings grow. adele is the first to get over her pride and admit her feelings, but kris doesn't reciprocate. somewhere down the road though, trolly convinces kris to get over himself, and kris and adele become a cute couple. :D

    TROLLY x KRIS || KRIS x TROLLY

      kris and trolly are friends through adele. trolly becomes frustrated with kris when he turns down adele and she promptly goes to give him a good talking-to. kris comes to trolly for advice regarding adele.



    GROUPS


    You can draw any of these characters in a variety of groups to fit your liking. However, we would prefer no groups of 5. If you're going to draw that many, you might as well draw the full cast... it's just awkward with a missing person. X'D

    Here are some good groups to consider, though you should not limit yourself to them:

      Nahri, Frankie, Claye - these three are the first characters that nahri came up with. the three of them are also the closest friends. they basically do everything together: eat, "study," play video games, or just sit around enjoying life. although the three are best friends, claye does sometimes feel grossed out/estranged/both when frankie and nahri flirt with each other.

      Trolly, Adele, Kris - the other three. similar to the situation above, except kris and adele are much shier with each other. trolly often pushes them into cute situations or protects adele from the big, bad kris.

      Nahri, Claye, Adele, Trolly - the four ladies of 6 Magic. none of them are inherently very girly (save adele maybe), but they do enjoy a girls' night from time to time. slumber parties and secrets? yes? 8] (but by all means, do not limit yourself to that)

      Claye, Mito, Adele, Kris - double date maybe? actually, I'm not even sure how that'd work out.

      6 Magic full cast - we would love it if you drew everyone together. if you don't want to draw them in uniforms, the next post has some themes that you can apply.

Uniform
The 6 characters were created to be in a school setting so there is a sort of uniform/dress code. The uniform basically consists of a shirt (one fitted for a female, one for a male) and a chain-belt with a pin on either side that attaches it to the shirt. The colors of the shirt and the shape of the pin is different for each element. All the characters pictured in their profiles are in uniform and if you do decide to draw them in uniform, please be as accurate as possible.
