Good morning, Barton! I'm doing a little study, and I'd really appreciate hearing what you think.

My guild, the Roleplay Refuge, is considering making a subforum for 1x1 roleplays - if you're familiar with the RPR, you know that 99% of roleplays there are group ones.

So here are my questions:

      • Do you prefer 1x1 or Group roleplays?
      • Do you prefer open applications, or invitation only?
      • Are you comfortable with having a 1x1 thread in the same forum as group roleplays, or do you prefer a separate forum?
      • Do you prefer to roleplay in Barton or the guilds?
      • In regards to the above question, why?
      • Would you join a roleplay guild if it offered a subforum for private 1x1 roleplays?

There's no right or wrong answers here, of course, I'm just curious. You can answer as many or as few of the questions as you like. We at the RPR think that we can offer a good roleplaying experience for 1x1 roleplayers, but we are testing the waters first.

•Do you prefer 1x1 or Group roleplays?
I definitely prefer 1x1 roleplays as Group roleplays often get too messy and confusing.

•Do you prefer open applications, or invitation only?
Open Applications.

•Are you comfortable with having a 1x1 thread in the same forum as group roleplays, or do you prefer a separate forum?
A separate forum would be better.

•Do you prefer to roleplay in Barton or the guilds?
I don't really mind where.

•In regards to the above question, why?
Cause I have roleplayed in both locations before and it doesn't really make a difference for me.

•Would you join a roleplay guild if it offered a subforum for private 1x1 roleplays?
Depends on the roleplays I have seen in the guild that give me an idea on what kind of roleplayers are part of that guild.

Aged Streaker

  • It depends on the plot of either option, as well as the partner for the 1x1 or the players in a group. I used to exclusively do 1x1s, but I've started doing more groups.
  • Open application; it feels less snobbish
  • I prefer them in a separate forum, if only for organization's sake.
  • I prefer to play in Barton.
  • Most of the roleplay guilds I've been in haven't lasted long and haven't been large enough to support healthy roleplays.
  • Possibly; it depends on the overall environment and the group players itself, as they decide the quality of the available partners or plays.

I do prefer 1x1 over group roleplays, with no preference for how to join.
Although I wouldn't mind 1x1 in the same forum, I think it would be easier to have them separate.
And again, no preference. I stick to Barton because I'm much to lazy to go looking for roleplay guilds that actually have a decent number of members and stay fairly active.

    I hope that helped.~
• Do you prefer 1x1 or Group roleplays?
I actually prefer 1/1 roleplays because it goes in between two people and if one person decides not to post, then that’s fine because things can just drop there. If it’s a group and some big bad person finally drops it, it leaves more people hanging and there’s less room to change things in groups.

• Do you prefer open applications, or invitation only?
Both. If it’s going to be a group thing then open applications tend to be alright, as long as a form or something is filled out, especially if it’s in the middle of a large roleplay. It’s good that people know what’s going on before jumping into things.

• Are you comfortable with having a 1x1 thread in the same forum as group roleplays, or do you prefer a separate forum?
Either one works. If you keep it in the same forum then just do symbols in the title that specify what it all is. That’s what Yaoilicious does and it seems to work very well.

• Do you prefer to roleplay in Barton or the guilds?
I personally prefer PM’s because then there’s less risk of someone taking offense to something minor, but if it comes down to it then I can reply in either. I can keep track of guilds and PMs easier, however.

• In regards to the above question, why?
Just wrote it xD Mostly it’s just privacy issues and how easily things can be found. Plus, you won’t have trolls posting there just to be assholes.

• Would you join a roleplay guild if it offered a subforum for private 1x1 roleplays?
Probably. I thought about joining the roleplay refuge but it didn’t seem to do it for me. Maybe it was the lack of 1/1 roleplays? Who knows? But sure, I’d consider it more.

Hope that helped a bit, dear.
• i usually do group. it can hold more of a plot but onexone's are cool too.
• open application because if i'm not invited, then i can't roleplay there!
• seperate forum ; more neat.
• barton ; specifically gaian neighborhood.
• guilds annoy me and healthy roleplays don't last long there.
• probably not. it's a good idea but i forget guilds exist.

Do you prefer 1x1 or Group roleplays?
It honestly depends. Some plots work better with one x one and others work better when in a group setting, however I really like groups, just for the fact that you make friends and get to know people.

Do you prefer open applications, or invitation only?
Open applications definitely. I don't really have a reason, I've just always like open applications better.

Are you comfortable with having a 1x1 thread in the same forum as group roleplays, or do you prefer a separate forum?
Um, I guess they should be separated so you can tell what is a one on one and what is a group roleplay. That's the only reason why they should be separated though.

Do you prefer to roleplay in Barton or the guilds?
              Barton.

In regards to the above question, why?
The guilds I tend to be in have a large amount of roleplayers so that's not a problem. I just think that most of them lack good roleplays. I don't see the point of having a guild for roleplaying when you can find pretty much the same exact roleplays and better in Barton. I'm sure they're not all like that, I just have never been a part of one that gave me something new to experience that I couldn't experience in Barton.

Would you join a roleplay guild if it offered a subforum for private 1x1 roleplays?
I'm not sure. It depended on the people that were a part of the guild, literacy of the overall members, and just the fact if I liked the overall guild in itself. It would also depend on how many people were available for me to roleplay with.

      • Do you prefer 1x1 or Group roleplays?
I prefer group roleplays on the basis of people more willing to plot and have more of a long-term idea of what's to expect out of the roleplay compared to 1x1. of course, this differs from person to person and group to group.
      • Do you prefer open applications, or invitation only?
I don't mind either. Open applications gives me a chance to meet new people whereas invitation usually implies that I already know the people and are comfortable with them - easier to plot with in the latter sense.
      • Are you comfortable with having a 1x1 thread in the same forum as group roleplays, or do you prefer a separate forum?
A separate forum for organization would be best.
      • Do you prefer to roleplay in Barton or the guilds?
        In Barton.
      • In regards to the above question, why?
Guilds are hard to manage and I tend to forget about them. With Barton forums, they will always appear in my subscribed threads list. Not to mention that guilds mess up my coding.
      • Would you join a roleplay guild if it offered a subforum for private 1x1 roleplays?
It's unlikely since I'm not too fond of roleplaying in guilds as a general prospect. But if there's something outstanding, I'm willing to give it a look.
Do you prefer 1x1 or Group roleplays? 1x1. Honestly never tried a group RP before, but I can see there being problems if, like, one person decided to drop without notice and left the others hanging...1x1 is just more simple.

Do you prefer open applications, or invitation only? Open applications. As long as not *everybody* is accepted who applies and there's some sort of literacy test or challenge or whatnot...yeah.

Are you comfortable with having a 1x1 thread in the same forum as group roleplays, or do you prefer a separate forum? Doesn't really matter to me, but separate forums aren't a bad idea. Never fun to sift through twice the amount of threads than you'd normally have to.

Do you prefer to roleplay in Barton or the guilds? Guilds. Never had luck with Barton threads...plus they're just so public.

In regards to the above question, why? As I said, they're just so public. I don't mind people reading my roleplays, especially if they enjoy what I write, but it still squicks me out a little that there could be creepers reading my every word.

Would you join a roleplay guild if it offered a subforum for private 1x1 roleplays? If that subforum had a search thread (or allowed search threads) and was active, jaa. Why the hell not?

Do you prefer 1x1 or Group roleplays? 1x1. My schedule is unpredictable, and I often take quite a while to post - Groups tend to move too fast for me.
Do you prefer open applications, or invitation only? Eh. I don't have an opinion on that.
Are you comfortable with having a 1x1 thread in the same forum as group roleplays, or do you prefer a separate forum? ...yes? oAo;
Do you prefer to roleplay in Barton or the guilds? I'm equally fine with either - I have B/C RP in guilds, and other RP in PM's/Priv.Threads.
In regards to the above question, why? -shrug-
Would you join a roleplay guild if it offered a subforum for private 1x1 roleplays? If it allowed search threads, and had a decent number of members...maybe.

»» Group because there's more characters and writing styles in the mix, but I never turn down an interesting proposal for a one x one.
»» Invitations because it usually means the RP's creator selected a group that he/she thinks could come together to make a really awesome story who have similar literary skills, but I don't mind opened applications one bit.
»» It'd be nice if they were separated, but I don't feel it would make much difference either way.
»» Barton-
»» Because it's more open, I guess... I hate fees.
»» It wouldn't be the deciding factor to get me to join, but it'd be a plus.

      • Do you prefer 1x1 or Group roleplays?

I prefer 1x1 roleplays. I've done a lot of both and in my experience, 1x1's tend to be better organized and last longer. I've Rped everything from group semi-lit to group adv-lit. While Group semi-lits can last up to 500+ pages, there is little to no organization in terms of plot, characters and/or interaction. This is fine for some, but it's not my thing. As for Group adv-lit RPs, there is an incredible amount of organization, but it seems that RPers but all of their energy in making beautiful, coherent profiles and when it's time to actually roleplay, the whole RP falls flat on it's face and rarely makes it past 2 pages of roleplaying.

      • Do you prefer open applications, or invitation only?

Doesn't matter to me - invitation only reduces the RP usually to roleplaying with friends, and therefore RPing to a style you're familiar with. Open applications, on the positive side, brings fresh talent to the RP and new perspective to the plot. On the downside, you may not like the RPing style of the new applicants. So, for me, both options have their pros and cons.

      • Are you comfortable with having a 1x1 thread in the same forum as group roleplays, or do you prefer a separate forum?

Well, I think it depends on the activity of the forum. If there is an abundance of group RPs, it might be hard to spot the 1x1 threads for people looking for them, so in that case, it may be best to have a separate forum. However, if the thread isn't incredibly active, or if there is a nice balance of the two, it may not be necessary.

As a personal preference, though, I'd say separate forums.

      • Do you prefer to roleplay in Barton or the guilds?

Barton just because I've never been a member of a very active guild.

Eylios
      • In regards to the above question, why?

Well, I've never been a part of an active RPing guild, so I don't know how RPing in guilds actually work. If I were to join an Rping guild, though, I would want it to be exclusive to serious lit - adv. lit Rpers who stick to the Rps they create/join. That way, even if there isn't an overflowing amount of members, the RPs created are actually active and maintained.

      • Would you join a roleplay guild if it offered a subforum for private 1x1 roleplays?

I think I answered this in the previous question. Yes, I would, I would even join one if there was no 1x1 forum, but lit - adv. lit group RPs with organized/original plots and dedicated members.
Do you prefer 1x1 or Group roleplays?
1x1 roleplays tend to last longer and move quicker than group roleplays. I'm honestly not fond of groups because nine times out of ten the roleplay ends prematurely due to ditching. They also move slower, based on my experience, and if too many people are allowed to join it's difficult to keep up with the amount of characters. Some of my favorite roleplays have been in groups, however they are very few and far between.

Do you prefer open applications, or invitation only?
            Open applications.

Are you comfortable with having a 1x1 thread in the same forum as group roleplays, or do you prefer a separate forum?
I think it would be best to have them in a separate forum so they're not cluttering up the group roleplays, especially if someone is browsing for a group to join.

Do you prefer to roleplay in Barton or the guilds?
            Barton.

In regards to the above question, why?
Guilds are difficult for me to keep track of.

Would you join a roleplay guild if it offered a subforum for private 1x1 roleplays?
Probably not. I might give it a shot, but I've had absolutely zero luck with roleplaying guilds.

            Hope this helped. :}
