Lets Fight Dragons
Let's Fight Dragons! is a breedable/changing "pet" shop inspired by old fashioned JRPGs (Japanese Role Playing Games). Players will take on the roles of legendary heroes on a quest to save the world, fighting monsters and making friends along the way. Oh, and there might be a few dragons, too.
We will draw inspiration from games such as, but not limited to: Final Fantasy (I, II, VII, VIII, X, XII, Tactics, Tactics Advanced), Secret of Mana, Legend of Zelda, Golden Sun, Ragnarok Online, Star Ocean, Disgaea, Monster Rancher, Harvest Moon, Fire Emblem, Kingdom Hearts, Dark Cloud and Dragon Quest. In addition you'll see influence from a few appropriately themed anime such as Slayers, Ruin Explorers, Akazukin Chacha, Scrapped Princess, Escaflowne, Orphen, Lodoss War, Mahoujin Guru Guru, Rayearth, Dragon Half and El Hazard. Of course all of the classic elements will be broken down and distilled into our own unique world and story for you to play in!

Welcome to the beautiful land of Asteria. For the people who live here, it is all they know, for the lands surrounding this large continent are filled with darkness and evil. Within it's borders is usually comfortable and peaceful, though small wars and power struggles between kingdoms do occur. The land is plentiful, and famine and plague are rare.
The people of Asteria are usually successful in keeping the corruption of the outer lands at bay, but in recent years it seems that powerful forces are organizing the chaos into an invading force, because it's been taking more and more effort just to maintain the boundaries on some fronts, and other fronts have been lost.
Beacons of hope will be lit in any storm dark enough, and people with extraordinary ability have been stepping forward from the masses to fight the chaos. These heroes come in many forms; whether they be fighters, magicians, adepts, healers, or their own kind of remarkable person.

The characters you can obtain in this shop are the heroes of the land (well... usually). Your typical heroes start out weak, yet eager and showing promise. These hopeful heroes are unique in that they have proven to be able to wield the powers of star gems--stones which allow the hero to perform powerful attacks, cast magic spells and summon fantastic and powerful creatures to fight with them.
Each starting hero has a unique appearance and a customized set of starting statistics. They each start with the ability to equip five star gems, and come with with one star gem already equipped.
The three primary statistics are Strength, Agility and Mind. There are also secondary statistics derived from the primary statistics and equipment: Hit Points, Mana Points, Defense, Magic Defense, and Damage.
Star gems come in three types: Magic, Abilities and Summons. These will be covered in a later post.

The Orion
The primary race of Asteria, they are like the humans of our world.
The Lyra
The next most common race, they are similar to humans but have long, pointed ears and some tribes have unusual colors of skin. They tend to be lithe and dexterous.
The Canis
A common but scattered race of people with features of large mammals, mostly dogs/wolves, foxes and cats, but other varieties exist within the race.
The Centauri
A race of people with the upper half of a human and the lower half of a horse.
The Aries
A race of people with ram horns and cloven feet. They tend to be strong and sturdy.
The Musca
A race of winged fae-people. The musca are a very small, but still human-size, race. There are also a race of diminutive fae also called musca, which are considered summons.
The Fornax
They are not a race in and of themselves, as they are "demons" created or mutated through pure magic(but are not inherently evil). They can resemble any of the other races or combinations of the other races.

The world is full of monsters, many of which are hostile. Some of these come from the darkness beyond Asteria, but many of them are right in your backyard. Heroes feel compelled to protect those less capable than themselves from harm, and thus battle occurs.

Characters will be granted experience (EXP) based on roleplay, fights, and minigames.
They may cash in their EXP at any time for increased stats and powered up star gems.
Once a character has reached a threshold of spent EXP, they will reach a level up and will receive new improved character art that reflects the kinds of improvements they've made in some way.

Sometimes the monsters of the world are best recruited to fight on the heroes' side.
Sometimes through force, and sometimes through kindness, a hero will be able to use an empty star gem to bind a monster, from which point forth they will fight at the hero's command, now known as a summon. The star gem allows the summon to inhabit an extra-dimensional pocket in time and space, allowing them to be called upon at will, though some summons choose instead to travel in the open by the hero's side.
Summons are to be considered mini-characters, and have their own set of statistics and abilities that can be used in battle. They can be roleplayed like any other character, and can be owned by a different player than the character they are equipped to. They can be increased in power using a character's EXP, though they can't equip star gems of their own.

Abilities represent a wide variety of special moves that a character can use during combat. The breadth of the different types of abilities that will eventually be available is inconceivable even to me, so I won't begin to try to explain just how varied they will be. Really. Each ability costs a certain amount of MP to activate and has an effect that occurs.
Magic star gems allow a character to unlock a school of magic, such as fire or ice or purity. The spells available in the school will be listed in the guild for reference, each with an associated MP cost and effect, usually damage or healing, but the effects may vary.

-Don't beg for characters, don't whine if you don't get one.
-Don't take any graphics from this thread for your own use. Character art is available for use by the character owner only.
-Please don't get a character if you don't plan to RP it and appreciate it. Don't get them just to have them, someone else probably wants it.
-Please don't advertise your shops in my thread without my permission. Obviously your signature will do that for you, so if you want to mention an event to your friends, please get my approval first, I will likely say yes.
Cosplay Character Rules
-Only one cosplay of a given character will be allowed, with some exceptions on alternate forms or genderbent versions.
-Because of this, they will be first come, first serve. I'm sorry if someone already has your favorite character, but they obtained it fair and square. There will be no reservations, including in quests. The first person to obtain a custom slot for that character gets it.
-The shop character is not the character it cosplays. It may share a name, appearance, general personality and manner of dress with the character, but the abilities and background will be adjusted to meet the shop rules.
Un-Rules
-You may have as many characters as you are able to obtain. Usually an event will only allow the obtainment of one new character per player, and some events will be newbie only, but beyond event-specific requirements, it's all up to you.
-You do not have to RP your characters to keep them, but they don't level up without RP.

Artists
would be required to do clothing and hair edits using my bases, recolors of existing pieces as well as customs
I am looking for both fulltime artists (no minimum monthly commitment, you do as much as you want to) as well as some people to do one-time clothing or hair pieces that I can use as basic mix-and-match articles. You would be paid a flat-rate for this work.
I am looking for a good handful of artists!
Anyone interested in artist-type positions should use this file to create hairstyles or accessories or hats or something that demonstrates your skills. I am looking for a very close match to my own style.
Notes:
-If you're hired, multiple layers for lines/shadows/highlights/colors *must* be used and saved and sent to me due to the need to recolor for other characters. Reuse of parts (unless purchased as a custom one of a kind thing) will be standard. You might as well start this with your samples so you get used to the process.
-Shadows should almost always have a purplish tint, and highlights should almost have a yellowish tint. Exceptions are made when appropriate, of course (for example, metal armor may be entirely gray, some fabrics or hair might have a different sheen).
-Lines should almost always be colored. The exact coloring should be your artistic judgement, but black lines should be rare.
Certist

Needs to have a high-end image editing program that you know how to use. I'd also appreciate someone who can intelligently rearrange text that doesn't fit in the spaces provided.
I'll need at least one person to take care of this.
Event Manager
this would involve running games, recording raffle tickets, keeping track of auction bids, stuff like that
I'm mostly looking for someone who will be on Gaia often, but would not have to be on for long periods of time unless you're running a game that takes longer.
I might accept more than one.
