His ability to manipulate light is integral to the light sources he has to play with. He needs something to form his illusions around, otherwise he can generate light from his own energy as disorienting flashes. Along with the flashes, he can use pure energy as projectile blasts.
He is also constantly aware of other gifted humans around him. The stronger their powers, more keenly he is aware of them, but he cannot block it out.

Tomek wasn't raised to think that his powers would solve all his problems. The son of a working class family, he was taught that hard work and smarts were all he could rely on. It was that ethic that stuck with him as he persevered through his studies to earn the first degree in the family and a good job to show for it. Without that drive he would never have met Clara, let alone married her.

Once they both had a stable career, a nice home, and enough money in the bank, they felt they could afford to become the average family, with the 2.4 kids and dog to go along with the white picket fence. Jenny was where that dream started and stopped. Despite Clara repeatedly trying to calm him down, Tomek had become obsessed with their daughter's safety, agonising over any ridiculous scenario he could think of that would put her in danger. Everyone told him he was being uncharacteristically absurd, but he wouldn't budge.

When Jenny was two, he spent what some argued was a waste of a year working on a postgraduate degree. With a thesis that gave him plenty of time to put his thoughts in order, and too much time reading stories to his young daughter, he came up with the idea of a team that would set his mind at ease. It started out as a sleep-deprived joke, but the more he entertained the thought, the more he believed it could work. Eventually, the idea came to life as The Authority.

The first year went smoothly, the second started to experience a few hiccups, and by the third the cracks were starting to show. Tomek was determined not to disband the team, hoping that everything would settle down, but he knew that the eight of them were no longer a safe bet for ensuring his family's safety. With his daily life flourishing, he had more than enough offers to represent underworld figures. His client basis changed from young offenders and the mentally ill to gang members and mobsters almost overnight. If he couldn't fight for safety, he would have to buy it.

Everything fell apart by the fourth year - after Clara died. The Authority had failed. He had failed. In a thoughtless act, he tried to call off all the deals he had defending the mobsters. As a kind gesture, they reminded him that he still had Jenny, but she'd be in a lot more danger if he didn't reconsider. With the threats piling up, the team falling apart, and suddenly finding him the single parent of a six year old girl, he decided to bring The Authority to an end.

For the past seven years, he has continued working as the attorney of choice for the darkest figures of the underworld. His record with them has made him infamous. To ease his conscience and to try undo some of the damage he has caused, he offers free consultation or representation to the hopeless cases where he can really believe the accused is innocent, or at least believes they deserves help. With The Authority in the headlines again, he decided it was well past due to finally face the former team and apologise for what he had done.

The publication of a book identifying him as the brainchild of The Authority can destroy Tomek's life. It would call into question his position as a defence attorney, potentially ending his career. What's worse is the book has the capacity to destroy Jenny's life as well. She has tried to remain anonymous so she doesn't become just the daughter of the most well known lawyer in the city. With the history of the team as public knowledge, she would become the daughter of Solar and Black Angel, and that isn't a background she would be able to hide. And he hasn't started to consider what the gangs around Brighton would do once they learnt who he was.

Elemental Transmutation - Through the power of mind, Lucette can alter the chemical compounds of a substance, as well as rearrange the atoms of a structure. Any element, liquid, gas, and even plasma will bend to her will. Like King Midas, Lucette can change solid objects such as metal into gold, and in the same gesture cause them to disintegrate. She can speed up chemical reactions to explosive degrees, and increase the heat of an object to burn it. Limitations behind this power include being unable to adjust an object when it’s been changed after certain intervals and not working on organic matter or living beings.

Eidetic Memory - Some people have a photographic memory (what Lucette likes to call it ‘pornographic’), where they can recall images, sounds or objects from memory in vivid detail. For Lucette, she remembers everything that has ever happened in her life since infancy, making her one of the most intelligent and intuitive members of the group. Unfortunately, this power also means Lucette can’t forget anything, like her mistakes or memories she wishes to let go of. A lot of the time she finds it impossible to handle the stress from certain truths.

Gold Mimicry - Without loss of flexibility or a decrease in speed, Lucette can physiologically turn her body into gold. This creates a sort of armor that can deflect sharp objects and bullets, and gives Lucette a boost of strength enough to flip a car sideways. Her hair also turns to gold, and reflects enough light to be visually impairing. But since gold is one of the softest metals, Lucette is only capable of protecting from so much. Being in a golden state for too long also proves difficult in reverting back to normal. Once or twice, Lucette has cut it close enough to nearly becoming “stuck”.

Back before Lucette was even a thought, La Aurica was a Colombian household name promoted by her mother. She along with Lucette’s father, El Diablo, fought crime nightly. The woman was fabricated to be a golden-skinned Amazonian goddess who only the innocent could view upon. By day, La Aurica was simply the housewife to a profitable miner who was practically known for having the Midas touch (but only figuratively). Then Lucette came along, job as mother became La Aurica’s full-time employment. Her father was appointed CEO of AuRico Gold, and both La Aurica and El Diablo fell into obscurity. But Lucette grew up on tales of her parent’s heroism, and looking up to her father with both trepidation and pride, it was only natural for her to give in to the family business.

Having loving parents and everything she could ever want wasn’t enough for young Lucette, who grew up without knowing the companionship of a friend. She never had a place to call home, as her father needed to travel all around the world on business trips for months at a time. Any connection she made along the way she was unable to sustain. When she grew up and settled in Brighton, connections became trysts with men she would no sooner love and then leave in order to further her powers. No one from the more red-blooded sex seemed to hold a candle to her father, until she met Tomek.

Whether it was their powers, mutual interests or both, the two sought each other out like magnets. It remained undeniably curious to her that a man first thought to be small and ordinary could be subjected to so many thought-provoking conversations. His girlfriend proved to be no different. Although Tomek was her first friend, Clara was her best. She became the light in those moments when Lucette could only hate herself, and through her she was given absolution from her powers. The two came to her with the decision to unite as a superhero team and Lucette willingly imparted thousands of her lifesavings onto them. When The Authority fell into disarray, Lucette fought to re-establish an organized action plan and get the others to see her way.

It all proved fruitless by the fourth year. When Clara died, so did her relationship with Tomek. She no longer cared for The Authority or her comrades. Losing her rock caused Lucette to drown her misery in cheap alcohol and rich men. Some of those men turned out to be shrewd politicians who would do anything to win the public’s favor. With her good looks and charm, Lucette became their catalyst. Now in her third year run as mayor, it’s becoming apparent the position she holds is less for the people and more for the high-societal values she surrounds herself with. Becoming governor is only her ante up for invitations to more dinner parties with big names. But it’s a long stretch she’ll ever win when her drinking problem is reflected in the tabloids. And with the threat of becoming unmasked looming overhead, it seems only a matter of time before Lucette is ruined.

If this supposed information were to get published, Lucette’s political career would no sooner fall from the train wreck it is, to irreparable degrees of catastrophic. What’s worse is it would become more difficult to return to the life of her alter ego, should it become the only option for her. Even sitting on top piles of gold, her security and support of the public are what matter most to Lucette right now.

If there were a combination of powers that didn't belong in the hands of a criminal, they were Barry's. Walking through walls was as easy as walking down the street, and he didn't need to worry that much about walking through them when he could just tear them down. The only thing limiting how far he could travel through anything solid was his pain barrier; the denser and thicker what he was walking through, the more painful the phasing. His endurance made his strength seem almost limitless, but the two still provide a constant strain on his psychology. His mind becomes exhausted a lot faster than his body does, making it impossible for him to stay awake for longer than six hours at a time.

Barry was the middle of nine children, but he wouldn't be able to tell you who was the father of any of them. One or two of his step-fathers may have been the father of some of his younger brothers or sisters, but he wasn't even sure about that. Their mother, a disorganised schizophrenic, was a chronic self-medicator who would let anyone into the house if they could cover the extra expenses that her welfare cheques couldn't.

In a dysfunctional household where it was established from the outset that it was everyone for themselves, Barry's powers were a permanent handicap. Before building up his endurance when he was eight, his childhood was characterised by constant fatigue. Already labelled as 'another Wirth' before he even started school, his regular naps during class and ability to break anything he got his hands on while he was awake made sure everyone knew he was just another useless troublemaker. At home, he was just seen as a hopeless case; his older siblings occasionally helped him only because they knew he could barely help himself.

Things started turning around when he finally began to understand what it felt like to not be exhausted all the time. His powers stopped being as much of a hinderance as he was slowly being recognised as a promising young athlete. Nothing ever came of it, but for a few months, he wasn’t at the very bottom of the social ladder. With a history and background like his, no one trusted him to show up to a game or training.

His capabilities were picked up by someone else: his mother’s latest boyfriend. A thug for the gang that ran their neighbourhood, he saw all the potential that Barry’s budding talents had for less than legal jobs. Barry had avoided being in fights or ever fighting back, too scared of what would happen if he actually hit anyone, but that attitude had to go with the plans the thug had set for him. To see what Barry was capable of without those inhibitions, he built up enough trust between them so the ten year old boy wasn’t instantly suspicious of him, drugged him and let him loose on three school bullies. The experiment ended with two boys in hospital and a girl permanently brain damaged. None of them ever said a word of what happened. It went down in the papers as a heinous crime by a group of bored teenagers.

After the first incident, Barry never fully recovered himself. He was terrified of what he had done, but doped up to his eyeballs on speed was the first time he felt truly energised. Hoping for a big return, his mother’s boyfriend continued to give him amphetamine after amphetamine to see what kind of reaction he could pull out of the boy. Rumours started to spread about the ‘boy wonder’ and for the first time, people started to respect Barry.

A couple of months later, he followed in the family tradition by serving his first prison sentence. Deemed a menace to society festering in a destructive environment, his sentence was doubled to a year. It was one of many to follow. Each year until he was twenty, he served time in prison. His second home gave him the same respect he had on the streets, but it also ensured he received his three meals a day, and the medical staff were the only doctors he could ever expect to see.

Things started turning around when he was given a new legal representative. He was up for his longest sentence, charged for robbery and attempted murder - only one of which he’d committed. The mob boss he was working for would rather see Barry go down for the murder charges than his right hand man, and with the investigating team deep in in the mob’s pockets, it was easy to make it happen.

Prepared for yet another rich suit telling him they had no options but to hope for a reduced sentence, he didn’t hear them the first time they said incarceration wasn’t an option on the table. Tomek was half of the legal team, but from the get go, it was obvious that he was the one who was doing all the fighting, his partner was there to keep him grounded. The longer he listened to what the lawyers had, the less skeptical he became of their crackpot plan.

The trials were brutal, but for the first time he had someone who believed he could get out of the gutters and he dared to hope for something better. The game plan was reinvented when Tomek showed him he wasn’t the only one with powers, and not everyone from the neighbourhood had to stay in the neighbourhood. Suddenly better things really seemed possible. The compulsory rehabilitation programs were no longer a waste of time required to be released.

After six months on remand, they finally received the verdict they wanted. Barry didn't fully understand the nuances of what went on in the case, but all he knew what it meant when the only extra offence going on his record was robbery and he could expect a non-custodial sentence. The program was strict and the two years he was expected to follow it felt impractical, but it was either that or spend more time imprisoned.

No one expected him to stick to the conditions, least of all Barry. When the two years ended with only one minor infraction, it was treated like a miracle. For the first time, he was living off hard earned cash and had learnt how to read; and for the first time since he had been a boy, he was clean for over a year. The only thing he missed was the freedom that the speed gave him by curbing his fatigue by an extra two to three hours.

Joining The Authority was just something he had to do. Tomek had stuck through with Barry over the course of the program, and with the chance to pay him back and take on the mobsters that had tried to make his life a living hell, Barry had to say yes. The team itself didn't interest him - he'd been in enough 'special membership clubs'. Trust and loyalty and revenge were three things that were ingrained him in.

The crumbling of the team was something Barry saw coming from the start. Isolated from the rest of the team, he would just sit back and watch the others argue. He'd never say a word wrong to Tomek, but he felt too wronged to speak up. The team wasn't running the way it should. The team was above the law and Barry wanted all the opportunities that came with it, including the lack of accountability if he decided someone should have skipped the courts and cells and gone straight to the morgue. All he had to do was tell Tomek what he saw and maybe things could have turned out differently.

When the team split, Barry got out of the mess as soon as possible. No longer under anyone's watchful eye, he decided that he would get his long awaited revenge. There were only two people he wanted dead, and within a few days they were a bloodied mess across their prison cells. Sure that eventually the police would link him to the murders, and unsure of what Tomek could do despite his foray into completely absolving murderers of their crimes, he decided it was safest to go as far underground as possible.

She can also weaken their opponents, however doing this for long amounts of time tires her. She likes to push herself with this particular power above others, feeling that she's helping the team more by buffing their attacks. However if she pushes herself too far, her memories start to erase. Whatever her precious moment or one she'd rather not think about, is erased. It simply ceases to be in her thoughts.

She can find simpler means of getting places by going through dimensions, different realities or realms. Though she has a fear of being trapped in one of the realms, for all of them are new places that she hadn't been too before. Each realm or reality she had travel through are either intense horrifying places, or the complete opposite. If she pushes herself, she can stay in a dimension, for more than a split second; it causes her to be overly fatigued with the stress of being someplace she was never meant to be in. If she isn't careful, doing that can totally wipe her memory up to the last week.

Be it the smallest needle to a large eighteen-wheeler, she can control every bit of it. She has pushed herself to picking up small buildings. Each attempt has failed though, because it exhausts her mind quickly and strains her health mentally, and erases her memory quicker. She is fueled to expand her powers, but doesn't want to forget her memories.

Some say he died of a broken heart, others just claimed he lost the will to live. However Mea went spiraling downward, taking everyone she held closely to her down with. John, Delwyn's father; left after finally not being able to take anymore. Mea was a mess, and even though he tried, he couldn't figure out a way to help her. The girl who lost her parents at such a young age didn't have the will to live until she found out months later she was pregnant with Delwyn.

She found that certain spark again, to stay alive. She tried to contact John, to let him know that she had changed but he heard that once to many and simply ignored her. Mea never told him she was pregnant, not wanting that to be a reason why he came back. Mea raised Delwyn the best she could by herself with the money she made working her job she had. Delwyn loved hearing about her father, but she also knew that whenever her mother talked about him, she had a certain sadness to her. She hated seeing her mother down, so she hardly if rarely asked about her father. Being such a young age herself, Delwyn had a lot of responsibilities. By the age of ten she was helping her mother keep the house cleaned and learned how to cook and bake. She didn't live with the luxuries many took advantage of, but she certainly didn't go without. Her mother made sure Delwyn had what she needed to live a comfortable life. When Delwyn found out her gifts and talents, Mea was a bit afraid and shocked at first. Unable to fully grasp that her daughter had abnormal, amazing abilities.

Though with time, it became easier. It was hard trying to teach her daughter to control her powers, when Mea herself enjoyed it when her daughter used them. It made her forget about John, even though she found that once impossible. Unfortunately the inevitable struck. One fateful day, Delwyn was called to the office her freshman year of high school. She had learned that her mother was killed in a hit and run accident. Time seemed to stand still for her. She then knew what her mother felt when she lost her father. The police couldn't find the person who ended her mother's life, which caused Delwyn to spiral out of control much like her mother.

She went off the deep end, she didn't have her mother to help her control her actions. Only fourteen when her mother had passed, Delwyn didn't know how to take on the cruelty and harshness of the world. She became unstable, unable to function normally in day to day life. Her hopes of her father returning vanished after a few weeks of her mother dead. Delwyn started to have a bitterness toward her father that he could never fathom. Where was he all those years when Mea had to raise her by herself? Maybe if he were there, her mother would still be alive. Further and further she had fallen, only months later she had found herself running with the wrong crowd; causing mass mayhem with the group of people. She never went back to school since she had been called up in the office. How could she meet the eyes of the people there? Of her acquaintances and teachers she had come to know? She couldn't. Delwyn had twisted into a shell of the person she formerly was.

Delwyn soon had an addiction to drugs, only finding reprieve from her pain there. She had a nasty habit. Once or twice a week she would be 'sober' but that was becoming rare. She started to forget who she was, who her former self was. She preferred it that way. The now young adult of eighteen had no direction in life and was utterly dependent on drugs; she lived on the streets. She used her powers more for her twisted version of what good really was. She was all for 'you scratch my back, she scratches yours,' type of trade. She lived by conning and doing dirty work for people. If there was someone that needed to be dispatched of, then she would do it, not really caring what or who the person was, just as long as she had money to get her fix. One evening she was at the wrong place at the wrong time, and got into a mix. Delwyn had left the States, trying to find an easier place to live, believing Brighton was just that. Delwyn wasn't more wrong. She was so out of it and doped up on her addiction to realize what was happening, a local group of lowlife thugs got a hold of her.

Delwyn believed that she was a goner, being beaten senseless until she could barely move. Robbed of her money she lived on and left with hardly any clothes on her back. She met who she soon found out to be Mimic from The Authority. Mimic had taken her in for the night, helping her recover the best that she could. At the time though, Delwyn had no knowledge of who exactly she was rescued by, and who her rescuer was a part of. Through Mimic's act of kindness Delwyn had vowed to reshape her life. After Mimic slipped up, accidentally blurting out she was a part of the team, Delwyn pleaded with her to let her appeal to the leader. Mimic refused to bring her around until she quit her current lifestyle, and to get herself together. Delwyn agreed to the terms, believing she could turn her life around. Coming out of her addiction was hard, but she fought through it. If anything, she could live her life the way her mother would have seen fit. Even though she never graduated school, she could help people. Which, she knew her mother would be proud of her for doing.

At the young age of nineteen, Delwyn finally got her wish and met Tomek, the leader of the Authority and his ever so nice wife, Clara. The team was unsure of her joining, but she found something to make their lives easier. Which was her ability to transport them anywhere in ten seconds flat. The Authority wasn't ran the way she thought it'd be. Tomek had little to no tolerance for her, and the majority of the people there ignored her; other than Claire and Dinah. As she got to know the team better, Clara and Dinah were starting to appeal to her as family figures. Clara made her feel wanted, and actually listened to her problems, while Dinah encouraged her to stick to her guns. After Clara died, everyone started to shake off the whole 'being a team' gig.

Clara was the one who kept everyone together. The peacekeeper, someone everyone could count on. When she died, Delwyn felt like her mother died all over again. She tried to stick with everyone, but when Dinah left, she finally called it quits. No one wanted her there anyway, so there was no point in her sticking around. It wasn't like they knew her personally. The group only called her by her alias or Jocelyn; her false name. She felt like her real name was meant for the past; not the future. During the team's time apart, Delwyn stuck as much as she could to her drug-free self. She fell a few times, but she still helped out people when she could. Now with the threat of someone coming out to tell the secrets of her former team; she unsure if she should commit to them like she formerly did.

Spectre has mixed feelings about a book being published. She feels that somethings should and shouldn't be discussed. However, that comes with her drawback of losing memory if she pushed herself too far. There are somethings she wants to remember, but some she does not. Having a book published would help her remember things, the good and the bad.

While maintaining physical contact, Clara was capable of changing people's minds, depending on the intensity of their convictions. Continuous and regular use, on the other hand, could end up intensifying previously held beliefs.
Her preflex allowed her to judge when people were lying and almost came close to telling her what people were thinking. The minor muscle movements that barely anyone noticed were obvious to her, and caused her endless problems when she stumbled across truths that were better kept secret.

Everything in Clara's life had been filling a series of checkboxes: attend private schools, become captain, go to university. It was all meant to set her up for a cushy job in politics. Things stopped following the well beaten path when she met Tomek. He appeared effortlessly brilliant at his studies while she struggled through her work. No longer content with just meeting the expectations people put on her, she wanted to be the best and beat him.

The rivalry turned her focus from politics to policy. Her parents were suitably unimpressed with her decision, but the longer she argued with her rival, the more interested she had become in the frontend and backend of politics. All it took was five years, but she finished with the accolades and her new dream job. That she also ended up with her future husband was a convenient bonus - now she could lord her victory over her former rival every day.

The first few years together went smoothly. Things couldn't have been going better at work or at home. Then they had Jenny. Clara thought things would be rough at the beginning. It would take some getting used to, but they'd get there and things would settle down again and be better than before. She hadn't foreseen Tomek's paranoia. Using her powers felt like a cheap escape from their problems, but she felt trapped with an irrational husband and a baby girl. By the time she realised she had abused her control, she'd entrenched the idea in his mind.

The Authority sounded like an option out of the mess she'd caused. It was the only secret she thought she would keep from her husband, but with the team, the incidents when she used her powers grew. If Tomek remained stubborn on a point, the team would ask her to convince him otherwise, and when simple words wouldn't suffice, she used her powers instead. The longer she pushed, the less susceptible he became and the more she was needed as a mediator.

The night Clara died was an accident only she could foresee. In efforts to undo some of the damage she had caused, she had exhausted herself. Her powers were drained and she joined the team on a patrol when she should have known better. Only capable of relying on her preflex, she hadn't noticed the extra man with the gun. Too far away from the rest of the team to rely on them, the gunman took his shot. In the commotion, no one noticed she'd gone down until it was too late.
