Seriously, one of the reasons for redoing towns was to be able to events and sponsorships in towns. It wasn't really feasible with the old code. I can't say when it will happen, but it now definitely CAN. We will focus on making more space in towns first, but expect more to do, especially at event times.

I'm glad you enjoyed it.

I was wondering are we going to get access to the other towns beside gambino (yeah we noticed XD) in Towns 2.0?

Hello, i have a question. When a person gets banned, why dont they get a notification email? Ive known alot of people who never did. As a user who has spent almost 200 dolars on this site, i would be beyond upset if i was banned, and you didnt tell me why i got banned. How would i go about repealing my ban if i was unaware?

All users should receive an e-mail letting them know what they were banned for, a lot of the time we find that users actually do not have control over the e-mail they registered their account with, and thus, don't see an e-mail come in.

You would know if your account was banned though, because upon logging in you are notified if you are banned.

Well, i meant unaware as in unaware of the reason. A close friend of mine never received an email stating that, ive ive heard of alot of people who did.t either. It may be a flaw in thesystem, im not sure.

It's an idea that's on our radar, but we haven't committed to it. In other words, it's a possibility but not in the short-term.

Wanted to stop in and say hi because this is really cool n-n

1. Is it against the TOS for a user to raffle off all his items and say he'll split up the gold earned from tickets to multiple users in a gold raffle, and then give the gold to a mule of his? This happened to me on Sunday, and while I have no proof it was pretty suspicious that the winner of all of the gold made their account the day the raffle ended.

2. Also, what are your guys' favorite items on gaia? biggrin

If an account with high Gaia economic value gets perma banned, would it be viable to redistribute these items through bid blast, random give-aways etc? Considering the market place economy is very unstable.

We do not take items off of banned accounts because there is no guarantee the account will stay permanently banned. Anything can happen to the account after it's been banned and it just may be unbanned.

I know you SAY that.... But having been on the other side of this it doesn't seem very likely.
And as a person who has 2 banned accounts (that I've petitioned to have unbanned several times with no sucess) that have some significant Gold value this is a feature I wouldn't mind seeing.

I've got a stupidly personal question, but it's been bugging me for years now. About fifteen or more years ago I was part of a website called Knights of the Anime Round on Geocities. I was the only out of state one, everyone else was in San Jose, California and went to the anime club there.

I know it's a huge longshot, but given it's the same area, the same age range, and how creative those guys were and tech savvy I was wondering if Lanzer, Fleep or any of the other founders of Gaia are the same guys I knew back then? I'd love to catch up if you are.

Hi everyone! My question for the admins this week is will we be seeing the drop rates of rare formulas go up? Some of the most requested formulas (such as the angelic, demonic, celestial etc) still remain virtually missing in the market.

Are the changes to alchemy happening as quickly and effeciently as you had hoped? And if not, what further plans do you have to make it work better?

Also, will we be seeing Gaian's Gone Wild again this year =) ?

Hi Madkool,

It's possible, but we don't have any plans for it immediately. And to partly answer your second question, I think that we'd all love to have the silver bullet that "fixes" Alchemy and makes it the most beloved system in all of the internets. But overall I'm pretty pleased with what we have done to it so far. Every change we introduce creates unintended consequences elsewhere, so we can't move too quickly, but I do think our last two major changes have made the system much more accessible for folks. There's always more people want us to do, and we'll keep looking at it, but given where we were awhile back, and where we are now, I think we've done decently.

Unfortunately, the softball version of GGW is probably over. Because so many people are required every week (and because so many of the other teams take it way more seriously than we do), it was getting really hard to field to a team. But we might take a different form, such as bowling. How awesome would it be to see Zero Omega falling over the fault line on a bowling alley? smile

What about release of coding for the old layouts? I know some browser add ons such as Better Gaia support layout customizing to an extent. Would that be something we could expect, or would that pose too high a security issue?

It doesn't really work like that. Our templates run server-side so it isn't really meaningful to "release" them. They're also long gone and would no longer be functional against all of the changes we've made even if we did resurrect them :].

Better Gaia modifies CSS and some other things and you are welcome to use. It works client-side and is always going to be somewhat limited in the scope of what it can modify.

well not all cases the ban was needed or seemed fair
I am sure you know there are gaians who are banned for some silly reasons

I had a friend who was perma'd because she bought hacked items years ago and still cant get her account back even though she contacted the company.
I also had a friend who got banned because he was underage even though he isnt, he's a 20 year old man. He doesn't even know how it all end up to that but luckily with HIS own hard work of contacting mods and discuss about the incident he got his account back after like a year i think.
A lot of cases of perma ban because of 'trolling/flamming/sexual shenanigans' even though its not even fitting the description of what really happened.

I am not really asking to unban all banned accounts maybe make a new kind of ban like a year ban and put perma ban as a punishment for really serious cases like hacking//phising and posting of gore and other unsafe pics for underage people

I agree that you shouldn't be banned for buying hacked items, how are you to know they are hacked?
o_o;

As for the age thing, that's rather odd too.
Sorry to have misconstrued your original point.

Perhaps a new type of ban would be more effective in the future.
