Introduction:
So... Gaia has now decided to use pop-up ads to advertise their sales. Anyone who's been keeping track of how many sales Gaia has been having would know that there have been a lot of sales lately, approximately one or two a day, and they're selling the items for a ridiculous amount of Gaia Cash. Even though they label it as a sale, they mainly advertise items for a ridiculous price (5,000 Gaia Cash = 50$ for a single item). Let's say they'll have one pop-up per sale. Given the frequency of the sales, you're probably going to see a pop-up at least once a day. There is no option to turn them off, no "Don't show me this again" button, and you can't even get out of them by using their Disable Ads option because it's not a "third-party ad." In my opinion, if you have the Disable Ads option turned on, then it should turn off all the ads, not just the third-party ones, because you paid Gaia Cash for that privilege. I thought Gaia would want to reward people who bought Gaia Cash. Maybe not. Even Adblock doesn't seem to stop these things.
I would guess they decided to use pop-ups because people have started to mentally block out their (way too frequent) sales, so they figured they had to get in our faces to get our attention. Gaia also never refers to them as pop-up ads, simply "Special Popup Offers." I suppose the word "ad" would imply it's annoying, wouldn't it?

Offers like these are actually common online - many sites use this promotional technique to help ensure that people who might be interested in a product have a chance to nab that item at a great price!
Just because something is common online, doesn't mean people like them. There are viruses all over the internet, but does that mean we look for the websites that have them? No, if we know a website has them, we avoid that website in the future. The same goes for pop-up ads. They often turn people off whatever they're advertising, along with the website itself. If a new member had just joined Gaia, and one of the first things they saw was a pop-up, how do you think they would feel about this website? They might not stay for very long.
