      This is a CSS graphics and coding shop that sells customized Gaia Online profile themes.​
      We offer complete and partial themes for both the classic (v1) and current (v2) profile types.​

      So, you want a custom profile? We can help! Just follow these simple steps....​

      Step 1: Double-check that you're in the right place!​

    RULES

      Rule 1: If you provide images for us to use, you must also provide proof that we're allowed to use them.¹​
      Rule 2: You agree that either party can cancel an order at any time, for any reason.​
      Rule 3: Don't rush us! We all have lives outside of Gaia.​
      Rule 4: Don't remove our credits from your theme.​

    ABOUT OUR STAFF

        Most profiles are composed of two parts: a main graphic, and the code that turns it into a functioning profile.
        Designers create the graphics, and developers write the code. We have no one on staff who does both.
        But we do have an artist who can draw custom art for your profile, if you'd like some!

        Our prices are listed in both gold and platinum – i.e.: 500B/50K = 500B gold, which equals 50K platinum.

    HOW TO PLACE AN ORDER

        It takes both a designer and a coder to create a complete profile, and we price each half of the work independently.
        Thus the price of a complete profile can be calculated to be the sum of your designer's price and your coder's price together.
        This is done to allow our members the most freedom possible to set their own prices and the types of payments they wish to receive.
        It also makes it easier for you to offer alternative forms of payment if you wouldn't have enough pure on hand to cover both parts.

        Simply fill out the appropriate form for the service you wish to purchase and post it in this thread.
        Additionally, quote anyone important to your order to get their attention, typically one designer and one coder.
        Once your order has been approved, start two trades, sending each fee to its respective shop member.

        Graphical layouts are great for incorporating avatar art, or if you want an image custom-crafted for you.
        You can fill any section of the form with "N/A" if it doesn't apply to you.

    PROFILE PROMOTION

        The shop account currently holds promo funds, meant to cover orders for those who would otherwise not be able to afford a custom layout. If you are unable to meet our minimum prices, mention the promo under price on your order form and your order cost will automatically be cut in half! (e.g.: If your total order would be 500B/50K, you would only have to pay 250B/25K out of your own pocket.) The other half of your order will be covered by our promo funds, which have been donated by kind Gaians who want to help out the community.

        We currently have 8.5T/850K in promo funds. Funds are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

    FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

        Do I need to fill out everything on the order form?

            Nope! Our order form is designed to help our shop staff understand what you want. Some of the parts may not apply to your order, so feel free to skip them. At the end of the day, the main things we need to know are: what images/patterns/colors you want to be used for your layout, what panels/sections you want, and what profile type you want (Classic/v1 or Current/v2).

        What's the difference between the classic (v1) and current (v2) templates?

            While both template types can be coded to look and function essentially identically, the current template has more content options, including the recent visitors panel and dedicated custom sections. Sections on the current template can also be dragged around to different positions. When this feature works, it can make a layout much easier to code, but when it doesn't, it can make installing one more difficult. If you want to play around with the different options, you can switch your profile type on your profile options page. You can have a separate profile theme saved for each type.

        What do the different layout types (i.e.: fixed, tabbed, hybrid) mean?

            This refers to the arrangement of the panels on your profile. Fixed layouts are layouts where all panels are visible by default. Tabbed layouts are layouts where panel content is not visible, and panels must be hovered over to expose content. For example, this is a fixed type layout, and this is a tabbed one. Hybrid layouts contain panels of both types, so unless the arrangement is self-evident, please specify in which arrangement you would like them.

        What happened to the different media options you used to offer?

            YouTube is the only media player supported at this time. While the v1 template technically still accepts Flash-based media, only users running Waterfox Classic, Pale Moon, Puffin, or another Flash-preserving browser would be able to use them.

        Can you animate my profile? What kinds of animations can you do?

            We certainly can! There are lots of properties that support animation in the profile design language, including colors, orientation, position, shape, size, and transparency of objects, among others. Some popular animation requests we get are for effects like animated smoke, blinking or glowing lights, falling petals, floating avatars, moving backgrounds, panels that fade in and out, rain, and sparkles. Feel free to request something and we'll let you know whether or not we can do it.

        The order form mentions custom fonts. Do you mean stuff like DaFont?

            Yes and no. If you would like a specific font used for the static text on your graphics, you can request virtually any you find. However, changing the font of browser-rendered text, e.g.: the contents of your About Me, requires the browser to have the font available too. To avoid the situation where every visitor to your profile needs to install the font on their computer, this is best done by having the browser load a font from a free web font library. Two such libraries are Google Fonts and Font Library.

        Do you make artwork for profiles?

            Our shop mainly focuses on making graphics, which is the practice of editing together preexisting images in order to form a template that will frame your panels. While some of our members may also make avatar art, this is not the shop's purpose and it cannot be guaranteed that you will be able to get art made here. If you need artwork for your profile, your best option is to visit the Art Shops forum.

        What else can I have customized?

            Lots of things! We'll customize your header, scrollbars, and text selection color by default, and if there's something else you're wondering about customizing, please ask!

        Are you PWYW? What should I offer?

            Yes, offer whatever you feel is reasonable! Because individual profiles all require different amounts of time and effort, it's hard to set a single fixed price for them. Most of our members list a minimum price that you can gauge by, or you can just offer that. Of course, a higher offer makes your order more likely to be accepted, especially when the shop is busy, and our members may make a counter-offer if they feel that yours was too low for the request.

        Why do I need to get permission to use art I bought and own?

            This is due to the way copyright works; when you receive a piece of art, even if you commissioned and paid for it, true ownership (copyright ownership) of the art never leaves the original artist. Unless you have a written agreement stating otherwise, only the copyright owner can decide how and by whom the art is used. If you already have such an agreement, then only your permission is required, but it is more likely than not that you will need to ask for one now. You can read the longer original explanation here.

        What browsers do you support? Why does my profile look different on other browsers?

            We code layouts against Firefox (Firefox) and Vivaldi (Chrome), and Pale Moon (that browser that still runs Flash in 2024) if you ask for Pale Moon support. Your layout should look and work the same in most other up-to-date Chromium- or Firefox-based browsers. We can't code proper mobile layouts due to a problem on Gaia's end, but we can make ones that sort of work okay if you request that in your order. We do not and will not support Safari.

        If I lose my code or graphics, can you send them to me again?

            If your profile was delivered by AlthIndor or Lady Saxophone, yes.
            But please don't rely on this! Save a backup somewhere safe.

      Interested in joining our shop? We'd like to hear from you!
      We're currently looking for someone to WRITE CODE.

      If you can write code, these are things we need from you:

      • To take the graphics produced by your design partners and turn them into working profiles for our customers.
      • Be able to use an advanced image editor like Adobe Photoshop, Affinity Photo, GIMP, Krita, Paint.NET, etc.
      • Have a good grasp of CSS and your Dev Tools, being beyond the point where you need to use profile guides.¹
      • Testing your profiles in at least one Gecko-based browser and one Blink-based browser.²
      • Have at least one profile sample available to show to people.

      And these are things we don't need from you, in case you had questions:

      • Caring about mobile support, or supporting out-of-date / end-of-life browsers.
      • Creating your own graphics from scratch.

      1: This is not the same as "referring to the documentation." We love documentation and specification sheets!
      2: By default, we only support the most recent versions of (free) modern desktop browsers.
