When you walk into the shop called Fantasy Stop you expect to be met with the smell of inscence and bright colored wall hangings. You might be planning on buying a poster with a wizard on it or a stuffed unicorn for your little sister's upcoming birthday. These are the kinds of shops where you keep an open mind and you can expect to find just about anything lurking in the corners.
All sorts of hidden treasures.
What you didn't expect is for a large black dog, wolf-like in appearance, to meet you at the door. You take a step back and consider turning and leaving but the shopkeeper comes and greets you. "Welcome to Fantasy Stop," she chirps, pulling the wolf out of your way so you can step inside.
You look around. There isn't any fruity smell or bright wall hangings. In fact, the walls look to be completely made out of stone. There are medieval looking remnants on shelves evrywhere, and little cages holding ferrets and what you think might be a hedgehog scattered around the small room. "Oh, I didn't know-I thought this was for things like dragons and stuff."
"Well of course it is!" the happy shopkeeper closes the door so that you cannot escape.
"It looks more like a pet shop," you reply, looking around the room, glancing at the wolf-dog who is still making you nervous.
"Moonglow, go lay down, and leave our guest alone." The wolf goes and lays down beside a door in the back wall of the shop. You feel as if he is watching you. The shopkeeper smiles. "Well yes, but we specialize in exotic breeds!"
You try not to roll your eyes. "So komodo dragons?" you ask. Just as you do so there is a loud squak from the back of the store.
"Something like that," she replies. "So do you want to see our pets or not?"
You come close to turning around and leaving, and in fact are just about to say no when you hear another noise from the back. You can't quite place it. "What was that?" you ask.
Her face lights up. "Come on, let me show you!"
"What do I have to lose?", you think. She leads you to the back into a huge room.
"This place didn't look near this big from the outside," you think to yourself.
The first creature you see is a griffin, the source of the noise.
"We have so many different breeds here. Some of them are rare breeds that are very fragile and will only breed at certain times of the year. I keep those at my home, where I can make sure one of the other creatures doesn't harm them. The smaller breeds are kept in here with the griffins, and I keep the larger breeds outside, protected by a shielding charm, where they won't be seen by anyone outside. In order to see them, they must be led back here by me. Feel free to look around, and let me know if I can help you with anything"
