We take in creatures of all shapes, sizes, and walks of life to adopt them out into happy loving homes!

Salem's Home has grown from a simple Magical Adoption Agency, now offering Familiars, jobs, and a new residental Apartment complex meant for Homeless Gaians who wish to live in the Salem's Home community, but not wanting to work or have to adopt.

Here you can adopt and care for orphaned magical creatures. These creatures can range to anything from a pixie to a unicorn to an orc or to a dragon. Any orphaned magical creature is taken in and cared for despite their origins or making.

Prospective parents can see what babies are available for adoption, for those seeking employment they can see what jobs are available, or for those seeking a nice place to stay without the hassle of rent! Checking back frequently you can see what events are comming up, all the kids, availablity of appointments, flatsales, apartment offerings, and news! ... Or you can just stop by and just chat!

[ OOC: This thread is usually out of character. And Salem's Home is located a little ways northwest of Barton town, right off the coast by the beach.]

23, 2006 Added new banners! D: Unexpected month long hiatus over! We're really sorry guys, so as a treat we're not punishing anyone for being neglectful! =D

Also - HUGE CHANGE IN THE RULES POST. The max limit is no longer in effect. You can have as many kids as you can handle. ALSO GROWTH REQUIREMENTS HAVE CHANGED! Meaning the new class systems is kinda sorta up! D:

Also #2 - Changed the first post story, well revamped it. It gracefully mentions all the new stuff we have available.

Also #3 - Apartment Slots are open! Get'em while they're hot!

Further news it seems Dr. Straten has become a bit mroe active. Ho ho ho. And has made an announce meant that there is going to be a change in the breeding system. Hurray! Hurray!

29th, 2006 Reno-Rangle has officially graced us with his presence. ;D Moony is very sorry for how long it took.

Also some more information about residents have been added in the F.A.Q.s and the Available posts.
28th, 2006 Updated a few things( added links to the first post), and the residental area is completed though a few areas need description.

There is open RP within the guild, check page. 29 for more info. =D
25th, 2006 New layout, new features, and new colorists! Some many new things are up and almost ready. Salem's Home got the major face lift it needed. Thanks Moony! heart
New features: Familiars and two new Subforums in the guild! Outside - Residental Building and The Drawing Board. The Outside - Residental Area is a new Roleplaying are for people who just want to live on the ground and not have to adopt a magical creature. Whislt The Drawing Board is a special subforum meant just for that, planning out event threads before putting them out into public, this also means that any member that wants to set up a thread in peace before having to make it public can do so.

Please read the rules carefully so we can avoid any misunderstandings and if anyone should disregard the rules intentionally they will be placed on the grey/black list.

General Rules

Follow the Gaia TOS.

Do NOT steal any of the art or character concept display within the thread or the guild, art thieves will be reported and castrated and other hideous nasty things will be done to them. If you wish to alter any artwork ( such as making it smaller or cropping it for your signature) you can PM Diehard_dreamer or Salem Von Montegue, ASK and we will do it.

Trolling, blatantly advertising someone else's or your own shop, spamming, begging for gold, and any general harassment will lead to you being reported and you will be placed in the blacklist.

No chat speak. Period. We ignored anyone who can't form a sentence properly.

This is RP required shop , meaning if your not online often or have absolutely no free time this isn't the shop for you.

Do not PM us asking questions and especially asking for a free adoption, ask any questions within the thread and we will get to them all accordingly.

No quoting trees. One or two quotes are ok, but too many within too many is a mess.

Rules About And For Adoptions

All payments go to this account. ( Salem Von Montegue)
We do accept items OF EQUAL AND GREATER value or an acculmitive of items that equal the amount.
Creativity is more important than gold, if we really like your entry we can work a payment plan.
If you neglect your creature it will be taken away and then put back up for adoption.
Couples can adopt together, but they must pay, play and upkeep the magical creature, their apartment, and their journals together.
You can have as many kids as you can handle to rp.
Please Keep up with the RP requirements.

Roleplay Rules

Give your characters character. Not everyone is sound of mind and everyone has imperfections. Be creative and give your characters unique personality, the more unique the better. x3
Please, stay in character, unless other wise stated such as threads that are marked "Non-RP" such as the main shop thread. [ until the guild as been purchased we don't really have a place to RP, but after the first flatsale we should be able to purchase a guild ASAP.]
Killing is not encouraged, but if you or your adopted creature die 3 times you will stay dead.
Give us a heads up if you can't RP or be online for long periods of time or you'll be at risk of having your adopted creature being taken away.
Out of Character banter, chat and such is to stay OUT of any RP threads, the main shop and soon to come designated threads will be set up for OOC.
This is a semi-literate required play. I know no one has perfect spelling or grammar, but at least trying is good too.
Guests are allowed to come in and RP along with the rest of the staff.

RP Requirements ( This is so you can *KEEP* your adoption )

RP inside the guild least once every two months.
Update your magical creatures' rooms and your assigned apartment. Which means:
All the room posts are filled ( descriptions, rules, guest list, etc etc )
Rps outside and inside the guild are to be logged.
There should be at least two to three "events" or one sided RPs between you and your family every month or so.
Be some what active in the main thread. ( an occasional bump is fine )
Announce any hiatus' or explain unexpected ones.

Growth Requirements

General Requirements to grow to the next stage

3 RPs inside the guild
All the room posts are filled ( descriptions, rules, guest list, etc etc ) this include your apartment
1 random events have been completed.
4 one on one rps between you and your magical family.
2 Journal entries ( this means 2 for you, and 2 for each of your adoptions )

Once you have completed the requirements for your Salem's Home kid to grow: FOR THE LOVE OF GOOD PLEASE PM US! Ah-hem, you will then receive a quest that must come to some form of solution may it be a good or bad one. Once that is done: PLEASE OF RTHE LOVE OF CHOCOLATE PM US! Ah-hem! ...and then a form that you must fill out completely about how your child has changed through it's stage of life.

Q: Can I have one of your pets?
A: For one, they're not pets... They're sentient beings, meaning they can speak and think for themselves. And two, As for having one, you need to have the capabilty to roleplay as well as win an adoption flatsale just like everyone else.

Q: Can I have one for free?
A: No, and please don't beg.

Q: If I can't afford the adoption fee at the moment can I still have one?
A: Yes, creativity is more important than gold. You are of course expected to give periodic payments until the debt is payed off, but this will be handled on an individual basis.

Q: Do we have to roleplay?
A: Yes, and it's very very very important. This is a roleplay heavy shop. You are expected to play not only yourself, but your creature as well and any other characters you wish to bring in.. If you don't have the time or the interest to put forth that much effort, then you've come to the wrong place and your adopted creature will be taken back and put up for adoption once again.

Q: Do I have to roleplay myself?
A: Not unless you want to, you are allowed to use an original character as the adoptive parent.

Q: Can I roleplay my other adopted pets as well as my adopted creature(s) and myself ( or other original character in some cases )?
A: Sure! I don't see why not.

Q: If I get my adopted creature taken away, can I have it back?
A: Yes, you can... If you can win them back and pay the fee for winning... You have three tries to get it right. If you lose you adopted creature three times, you will not be allowed another and you will be banned from the shop. Like seriously offensive, yo. :B

Q: Will the adopted creatures be able to breed?
A: Yes, and not nessarsarily with the same specices! All creatures can breed with each other no matter what they are, but they must be an adult. And currently, Moony is looking into cross-shop-breeding.

Q: If I get tired of my creature what can I do?
A: Well... you can give up the creature to adoption again. Disowning or abandoning is however highly discouraged and you may only do this three times. Upon the third creature you may not have any more. Like before, it's highly offensive. D:

Q: Can couples adopt?
A: Yes they can, but they must share the responsibilites and finaces.

Q: Can same sex couples adopt?
A: Sure! All rules still apply though.

Q: Can same sex creatures become mates?
A: Yes, they may have any mate they wish.

Q: Can same sex creatures breed?
A: Well... They can do the act, but nothing will come of it. However there will be a magical prosses where offspring can be produced from same sex parents. It's very secretively, and very magicl.. whoo.

Q: Why isn't there examples of what creatures look like in other stages?
A: Well, all of them are very individualized. Depending on how their life goes may effect how they look so there's no way for me to really perdict what one creature or another will look like as it grows. As pressent babies grow however there will be links to see what they look like in comparison to how they looked when they were younger.

Q: Where do we roleplay?
A: In the areas set up in the guild.

Q: Can anyone roleplay in the guild?
A: Yes, non-residents/emploees/parents can roleplay in the guild, just place a profile in the Guest Introductions Thread before doing anything.

A: Yes, you can. Characters that work at the manor, live in the main manor. Whilst characters that just live on the grounds, live in a newly constructed building within the grounds. If you are interested in living or working at Salem's Home, just PM Diehard_dreamer and Salem Von Montegue.

A: Unfortunatly, yes there is. It's 2.5k ( 2500) gold to purchase a apartment. Employees live for free though.

No there isn't any roleplaying requirements, but you have to fill out the room posts needed, and though you do get four bedrooms ( like the apartments in the manor) you don't get extra threads for each bedroom. Adoption Flatsales

This is how flatsales are going to work, all the creatures have a set personality and so being able to roleplay is important, so I need to test your skills. Contact me about the creature you are interested in adopting and I will give you a prompt you must complete to the best of your skills. The parents will be chosen according to their degree of skill AND the ability to capture the chosen creature's personality best all while being a good parent.

Apartments

The residental building is meant for people who would like to be apart of the Salem's Home family and without the fuss of adopting a kid...Or doesn't have a home. ( How sad!) Or this could be for a hopeful parent that wants to be invovled while waiting for the next adoption flatsale, or even for that quester that wants that custom! Whatever the case may be, anyone... and we do mean anyone that likes to RP and can have their character live here for a measily fee of 2.5k ( 2500 gaia gold ). Though the residental apartments don't get seperate threads for their bedrooms.

To get an apartment is first come first serve. You need to PM Diehard_dreamer AND Salem Von Montegue with your request. Please be at least a semi-literate roleplayer.

Infant
The babies all are born with set personalities, but this is one of the most influencial stages of your magical creature's life. Because of this, naturally 'evil' creatures won't always follow what their race commonly does. You must influence them and take care of them so they will grow up to be healthy. Babies are for the most part playful, fussy, and sleep a lot. The extent of their movement is limited to crawling for bipeds and clumsy walking for quadrapeds. Those who have wings cannot lift off the ground yet. Also nothing more then babbling and very few simple words come out of these little ones. Babies are also very curious and this is a whole new world so it will be explored!

Note:
Dragons are the only babies that at birth know how to speak not only their natural language of Draconic, but also English. This English is however is limited to simple incomplete sentences, much like speech at the end of the infant stage and towards the beginning of the toddler stage.

Toddler
At this stage your baby will no longer be as small, simple sentances and words are understandable and fuller. Steps will be taken for the first time as they enter this stage though rather clumsy. Also at this stage toddlers will try to push the limits of your paitentence. For those who can fly, fluttering just off the ground will start, but it doesn't last for more then a few seconds. Toddlers are also more confident in their actions then infants.

Young Child
No longer toddling, your toddler is now a small child. They can now walk normally and run though this is clumsy. Speech is now coming in more complex sentences, and fluttering has turned into short bursts of clumsy flight. At this point children will be expected to start going to preschool.

Child
Running, jumping, and skipping are all things that your 'big kid' has mastered. Those who can fly can actually pull short distances of flight. Your not-so-little-ones will now have started to feel the need to be independant and will be attending Elementary school.

Preteen
Your child is almost a teenager now! At this point your tween usually get quite an independent streak. Most will feel they are now old enough to do as they please and know everything there is to know about life. This is of course far from the truth. You must take good care of them to make sure they stay out of harms way, something they seem to be in the way of more often these days... Flying creatures have a good handle on flight now and can even get a good amount of lift. Preteens have now stepped up to Middle School.
