(This is pretty friggin old and outdated, a new, better one is probably around here, so don't bother reading unless you wouldn't mind this guide being old.)
(NOTE: Don't PM me about this)
(I won't reply; I will get annoyed)
(Thnks biggrin Enjoy! )
Extended Profile Music
The new extended profiles multimedia section opens a smorgusborg of possibilities for gaia. Imagine it, there could very well be minishops that sell flash programs. biggrin But this thread is concentrated on one thing. Extended Profile Music.
Wether you want a classical peice to give your profile a fancy feeling, or if you want some rock to spice it up, you will find how to do it in this thread. There are 2 Tutorials on this page which will tell you how to do it. 3nodding
Example of Extended Profile Music
CLICK HERE to see my profile. Notice the music? biggrin
Quick note from Umiman:
There is quite a number of people, including myslef, that find it very annoying when there is music inside the profiles. 3nodding
Tutorial 1
This first tutorial is the EASIEST way to add music. Simply follow these instructions.
Step 1
Dowload Super Fever
Click Here to download Super Fever
Super Fever is a program that converts certain file types to another. For example, you can turn another file type into a mp3, or a video into just music, or in this case, music to swf.
Step 2
Install
Uhm... this step is pretty self-explanatory
Step 3
Making the file
Open Super Fever.
Once the program comes up, go to the upper left.
You should see a place that says "select the output container"

Change this to ".swf".
This will make it come out as a flash file. 3nodding
Next, you should see a large white box at the bottom of the screen.
You then drag the music you want into that box from your desktop or a folder into that box.

Theres an "Encode now" button that should have appeared after you put your music in that box. Press it. whee
Once its done loading, you will find a .swf file in the location the music file was.
That .swf file can now be put into your profile.
Step 4
Uploading
There aren't many .swf hosts. I've done intensive searching,
only to come up with barely nothing. The best site I found is http://walagata.com/. But it seems that sometimes they don't accept accounts. If you can't use walagata, good luck trying to find a place to host it. sweatdrop
Step 4
Add to profile!
Once you have it hosted, get the link of the .swf file and add it into your profile!
Tutorial 2
The following tutorial is kinda complicated. It's for those that want to actually use flash to make it. Theres numerous reasons you would want to use this: To add buttons, to add a cartoon, or even a game. Though, i suppose if you knew how to do that, you wouldn't need my tutorial. gonk
Step 1
Download Flash
Click Here to download the Flash 30 day Trial
Off of Macromedia Flashs Website, you can download a trial version of it free. Install it, make sure its working, then proceed to step 2.
Step 2
Get my template
Click Here to download the my Template
Download my template and open it with flash. Pretty much, this is is a flash file that has 2 buttons: a stop button and a start button. All YOU have to do is add the music you want, as detailed below! biggrin
Step 3
Adding your music

Click on File>Import>Import to Library
This should come up.

Now you can find the music you want. Click on it, and click "open".

Next, click on the first frame of Layer 2. At the bottom of the page, open the "properties" tab. you should see this,

Click on sound, and choose your music. Next, click where it says "Repeat", and change it to "Loop". you'll be glad you did.

Now notice how there's a blue line through layer 2. That's supposed to happen. biggrin
You can then type some text of what the songs called onto the flash, or even add a drawing.
Step 4
Exporting
Click on File>Export>Export Movie.

Name the file, then click save. Afterwards, click ok.
Congrats! Its now a .swf file. Now you just need to upload it onto http://walagata.com/ and your good!

A. No. Sry. biggrin
Q. How do i hide the multimedia section?
A.When you click on "theme", theres a box under where you choose your theme. Put this in there.
[code:1]}
#multimedia { text-indent: -5000px; position: relative; left: -5000px; }
