The Time Machine Quest of Doom!
(Or How We All Decided To Brave The Winds Of Time For 03 Items)

The Story:

Once upon a time, not so long ago, a group of friends had kicked back in the midst of a difficult bout of procrastination. Over carbonated drinks, a few hands of five-card-stud and desultory conversation, the topic at hand turned to quests and the prohibitive price of items; most specifically, the immense amount of gold that each 2003 item can cost. Each of the companions bemoaned their current gold-less situations, their desire for a particularly lovely bit of 2003 Gaian donation merchandise, and uttered vain wishes to turn back the hands of time to a point when each item in question was much, much cheaper than they are now.

Thus, the idea of building a time machine was born. What a wonderful idea, said the companions. Let's build a time machine and travel back to 2003, where these insanely expensive donation items were, at most, 5k gold, instead of the millions that they are now. It's a brilliant idea, they said to each other. What could possibly go wrong?

They promptly pulled out sheets of computer paper and began sketching plans for their Time Machine of Doom!. One sketch after another found its way to the recycle bin, until they came up with this intricate and detailed blueprint for their Time Machine, a masterpiece of art and glory:

After many hours of staring at the blueprint, and three failures that included one avatar squeezed accordion-style and the mysterious appearances of a talking grapefruit and a blue spotted wombat, the companions nodded sheepishly at each other and agreed that as lovely as their Time Machine was, its current two-dimensional specifications could never hold them all for the length of the trip. So, they turned to other options and ideas.

They hired a mule to do the actual construction work on their Time Machine, promising him shares in the loot that they planned to get from their 2003 excursion. However, after enlisting the mule, the companions looked at their dusty pockets and realized that a quest thread might be a capital idea if they were ever to afford the construction materials for their Time Machine of Doom!.

So, soon after, this quest thread was born, comprising all the quests of all the intrepid explorers who have set out on the Time Machine Quest of Doom!. Please peruse their quest posts, and if you feel generous, donate a bit of gold or an item or two, for it will take time and gold to finish building their historic and world-changing Time Machine.

Ahoi-oi! I suppose you've found your way down to me ;D My quests are probably going to be slow moving due to inflation - and less time available on my part. I'll finish them though!

Right now I'm questing on my account Keika to get the Nitemare Minis. On my mule, I'm slowly trying to re-quest my AFK - which one of my friends lost. How they lost it doesn't matter much anymore...So - I am in need of the AFK. But that can wait, I guess. whee

Yeah. So. I've been debating for months whether to actually quest for bunnies, and I decided (with a little encouragement from my friends) okay, why not? Every girl's got to have an unreachable goal of some sort.

So yes. I'm questing for Bunny Slippers. Last I looked, they were around 36-38 mil in value. So I've got a ways to go. They look a little like this:

Some people might ask, why bunnies, of all hysterically expensive Gaian items? Why not ports? Why not DJ's? EVERYONE loves ports and DJ's....right? Well, I don't particularly like either of those items, and while a halo would be nice, I'll go off and laugh myself silly at the thought of actually ever being able to afford one of those. So, bunnies. Besides, they're so unbearably cute, they just beg to be taken home.

I suppose this is where I proceed to tell you some sob story of how my little sister has cancer, or I'm a little devil and I lost my tail, or something to that effect. But no, I can live without it. I don't need it to complete my evil outfit of DOOM because I'm really a super godlike half-vampiric/angelic/demonic child-of- Sephiroth with the power to bring down 9 universes with my really bad grammar, manners and spelling. I don't fawn over the idea of a DT because it's a Gaian "status symbol". Erm...I guess the reason why I want it is because I want other items LESS so by default, I want this item....MOST? confused If ya get my line of reasoning.

Anyhow, I suppose the beginning goes back to Dec 03ish when I was so new to Gaia. I saw someone with a DT equipped, thought it looked cool, and planned to save up and buy one. Sadly, marketplace prices soon crushed my soul. I thought the only item I ever really wanted on Gaia was unattainable, but then I adopted the mindframe of "you never know what you can't do until you try!"
There's actually very few "expensive" Gaian items that I care for. I don't want a Halo, I don't want angelic or demonic headbands, I've no need for an emo bag, I think rose corsages are overrated....& Minis are cute, but not really my style. In short, I wished to quest for a DT simply because I happen to have the Horns of the Demon, and it matches rofl That, and I think it's important to set big, but not entirely impossible, goals for yourself. It's important to have something to work for, is what I believe. Thus begins my quest for the DT.
