COLORING CONTEST!

UPDATE:
Winners have been chosen! These are the winning koi (a total of nine).. if you see your koi on here I will be PMing you shortly with prize information. Do NOT delete your koi from your server if you won! I still need to save them to my computer in order to use them in the shop. I loved all the entries, thank you so much to everyone who entered! If you did not win and would like an explanation (and critique of your koi) on why you weren't chosen, I'd be more than happy to tell you. Congrats again to the winners!

This, ladies and gentlemen, is the SECOND contest ever from 'Waterlily's,' my koi minishop.

I'm always looking for new ideas, and love giving others the opportunity to color koi for me. As last year's contest was such a hit, and there have been numerous requests for another, I'm holding one again this year! I hope it does as well as last year's, perhaps even better! The shop has grown tremendously, and I'm looking forward to seeing all of the entries I'm sure all of you have been cooking up in expectation for this thread's opening.

See the next few posts for entry information, rules, prizes, and current participants!

The contest will run from today, Sunday, December 5th, until Sunday, December 18th.

Overall Rules:

- Steal my lineart and die. No, really. Delete it when the contest is over.
- You may enter as much as you like. BUT, you can only win (receive a prize) once. If you submit 10 koi, only one of them is eligible for a prize. More on this later, see the prize post.
- Don't be stupid. ><

So, this is a coloring contest. I have provided my lineart for you to use and submit in the contest. The contest will run for a set period of time, and when it is over, I will pick the koi that I would most like to offer for sale in my shop. The colorists of the winning koi will win a prize (yet to be determined, most likely pure gold), I'll post the actual prize later.

The winning koi will be selected on similarity of the pair (remember, they're supposed to be pretty much identical, except for the actual lineart), originality, coloring style, time involved, and coloring ability used.

Coloring Rules:

Note: I will be shrinking down your submissions and posting them, so I can see what they will look like when they're the size I sell in the shop. Remember, you will be judged on how well the patterns hold up when small!

- YOU MUST COLOR A BUTTERFLY AND A STANDARD KOI FOR EACH COLORATION YOU CREATE. If you don't submit a PAIR of identical koi (one of each lineart), your entry will not be eligible for a prize.
- Post your pair of koi together, please.
- PLEASE post your koi as two separate images.. one standard, one butterfly. This makes it SO much easier for me! If you've already submitted, don't worry about changing them.
- Off limit colorations include: elements, holidays, anything similar to what is offered in the shop now.
- Don't shade your entries.
- DON'T SHADE YOUR ENTRIES.
--- I like a uniform look with my koi. After the contest is over, I will add my hightlight/shading layer to the koi selected. That's why I don't want you guys shading. <3
- Don't forget that these will be shrunk to about 1/5 of their current size! Any patterns must be visible when the koi are shrunk down!
- Don't resize your entries!! Leave them the size they are.
- POST YOUR ENTRIES, don't PM them.
- Again, you may enter as many koi as you can color in the amount of time the contest runs for, BUT you can only win a prize for one of the koi.
- No sore losers.. don't be offended if your koi aren't selected for the shop, I'm just kinda picky about what I offer for sale. It's nothing personal! *hug*
- Host your own entries!!

Other Stuff:
-I added this section to help those entering know what I'm looking for in entries.-

What I like:
- Originality. (I like seeing things that I haven't gotten before!)
- Themed colorations. (Koi that go together, or that are easily recognizable as being something.)
What I don't like:
- Paint-fill coloring. (I can tell when people do this, and it drives me nuts.)
- Pre-made patterns/brushes. (If you want to color spots, make them yours.)
- Cookie-cutter patterning.

Remember, for each coloration of koi you create, you must submit one of each lineart! And don't forget to post your pair TOGETHER.

The number of koi eligible for prizes will depend on the number of entries I get, BUT does not necessarily mean I will limit the # of koi sold in the shop to that amount (only used in the case of one colorist making multiple koi). (Does this make sense?)

0-10 entries - 3 koi
10-20 entries - 5 koi
20-30 entries - 7 koi
30-40 - 10 koi
etc.. o.o;

The winning koi will be selected on similarity of the pair (remember, they're supposed to be pretty much identical, except for the actual lineart), originality, coloring style, time involved, and coloring technique used.

As of right now, the -actual- prizes are still up in the air. I'll probably do as last year, and give each winner the same prize (no 'first, second, third place' crap). I'm thinking maybe a certain day's worth of the profits from their koi? I don't know yet, when I decide on something more concrete I'll let you know.

PRIZE UPDATE!
- All winners chosen will recieve: -

1. Their koi pair finalized (sized down, shading added) for free! (worth 300g)
2. The profits from -their- koi as they are sold in the shop itself for one week. (possible worth is 2-3k+!)
3. A 'gift certificate' to Waterlily's worth 1k to use on any koi they choose.

Here are some sunflower koi! It looks like I tried to shade them, but its not supposed to be shading... I was trying to break up the petals so it looked more like a happenchance pattern, instead of just a koi-shaped flower.
