~Can now RP in the Gaia Slots apparently~
I'm (no longer so) new, but I'd heard from a friend that there were some good RP's on this site... I'm very interested in trying some, though I figure I'll start off looking here, where they say they find some of the best. . .
I'm interested in having a small group RP or a One on One RP
The only reason I am not creating a board to RP on is I want to make sure others will RP or be interested IN RPing..
Would like at least Semi Litteracy AKA You can type at least three full sentances with proper grammer and punctuation.. spelling is good but if I can read it it's ok (not always the best speller... never won a spelling bee!)

Powers That Be by Anne McCaffery and Elizabeth Ann Scarborough
~The book is about a young woman in somewhat of a military, she is a Major as well as a hero(1). She does not see herself as such, though. She is one of very few survivors of a terrorist attack on one of the many terraformed planets(2). She came out of this with severe lung damage, making her unable to do any further service and is thuse sent to a somewhat remote and unbothered planet, Petaybee.
Here she is taken to a town, more of a village than a town, where she is swiftly summonded to meet the Colonel assigned to the planet. There she is informed they suspect conspiracy among the locals, and she is now assigned to work, instead of her retirement. He blackmails her into it, using one of the few computers to make her seem less ill than she is and thus decrease her pay so she cannot afford to live without the work. Giving her no supplies and taking away her only sources of communication.
She is easily recieved by the locals, though. Making friends with Bunka, or Bunny, and meeting many important people, including a 'medicine woman' of sorts, Clodagh. She also meets Sean, who she finds herself slightly attracted to. Sean is the genetic scientist of the land, but also a native so is supposedly 'in' on the conspiracy.
She learns everything that is going on with the people, though. Finding that the planet is actually a living entity, that helps the locals who help it. It has adapted them to a point where they will never suffer on it's lands, but the price is that, unless they are young, they can not leave the planet with out soon dying!
To top it all off, they are now planning to deport every member of the planet, in order to 'head off' the conspiracy and find minerals that show on their scientific machines. The planet does not like this, and begins to rebell! Scientists have disappeared or gone mad for going into the land to find these minerals. The ones who seem ok are declared mad for what they say they found, that the land talked to them and asked them to not do this.
The woman is now helping the supposed rebels, because she has seen and felt the true nature of the planet, along with finding love.

(1) Yana, the main character, was training students on Bremer. She was shoping them how to use a snorkle, which was now advanced to the point it recycled the air you breathed from CO2 back to O2, so it was used in no oxygen areas.
She saw a yellow vapor suddenly, and motioned to her students to turn on the O2! The door opened, once it could, and she hurried to take off the make and give it to one of the students still alive, but the oxygen was tainted now, with the poison and the student still died. She replaced the mask, after trying it with a few more students, and began to breathe, faking death her face down, as the terrorists slaughter those who hadn't yet died and stole materials, medicines and food they were not being properly supplied and desperately needed.
She servived, but so long of breathing the slightly poisoned air destroyed her lungs, causing the slightest thing to put her into coughing fits. They said she'd never again be able to breathe properly, under anything but the mildest conditions, though labeled her a hero for surviving the incident.
(2) Terraforming is the process which they take almost livable planets and alter them to make them livable. Places with the right oxygen, for example, but bad climate. They would adapt animals to live in the situation, to be hunted and used for clothing, giving little technology to those 'relocated' there.
The people of the land are considered 'employees' but were never initiated, and taken from there homeland to live here so their land could be harvested for things others seemed to think they needed. That was over 200 years ago, in the books timeline.
