Bump Contest
As much as I hate to do this...

As in the Halloween event, there will be a bump contest. Rules will be the same.

1 - All people competing in the bump contest must be nice to each other. D: No fighting, accusing people of padding their bumps, etc. If you suspect someone, please PM Mau. Don't post it in the thread.
2 - Bumps must be 30 minutes away from any thread chatter - bumps or otherwise.
3 - More rules added as neeeeeded.

The two top bumpers will receive eggs in house colors of their choice [they will not be official house eggs, like the ones done last year, but still]

HP Lexicon Dementor Info
"Dementors are among the foulest creatures that walk this earth. They infest the darkest, filthiest places, they glory in decay and despair, they drain peace, hope, and happiness out of the air around them. Even Muggles feel their presence, though they can't see them. Get too near a dementor and every good feeling, every happy memory will be sucked out of you. They feed on positive human emotions; a large crowd is like a feast to them. They drain a wizard of his powers if left with them too long. They are the guards at Azkaban and make that place horrible indeed. There are certain defenses one can use against dementors, specifically the Patronus Charm. A dementor's breath sounds rattling and like it's trying to suck more than air out of the room. Its hands are "glistening, grayish, slimy-looking, and scabbed". It seems to exude cold (PA5).

The dementor's last and worst weapon is called the Dementor's Kiss. The dementor puts back its hood and clamps its jaws on the mouth of the victim and sucks out his soul, leaving him an empty shell, alive but completely, irretrievably "gone."

HP Lexicon Hermoine Bio
Birth name: Hermione Jane Granger (middle name from WBD 2004).
'Hermione' meaning: JKR chose the name Hermione from a character in Shakespeare's play "A Winter's Tale;" although she says that the characters are not at all similar. She thought it made sense for a couple of professional dentists to name their only daughter something like that to show how clever they were. But she chose a very unusual name because she worried that, if there were a real child somewhere who was bright and had larger-than-usual front teeth that had the same name, she might get teased (NPC). Hermione was also the name of two British character actresses who played witches. Hermione Baddely played Elspeth in the "Bewitched" TV series and was in Mary Poppins, and Hermione Gingold was in the movie "Bell Book and Candle." (IMDb)
Other names: JKR has fun with people mangling the pronunciation of Hermione?s name.

THE GRANGER FAMILY
Birthdate: 19 Sept 1979 (AOL 2000, WBD 2004). Note: Although the DVD timelines were approved by Rowling, they do not match her other statements exactly. According to her website, Hermione was born before Harry and Ron, so her birthday would have to be in 1979, not 1980 as stated on the DVD.
Ancestry: Muggle-born.
Mother: Unnamed Muggle (dentist).
Father: Unnamed Muggle (dentist).
Siblings: At one time in the writing process, Hermione "had" a younger sister (WBD 2004); however, Rowling decided not to include that character, so Hermione is an only child (EBF 2004) (WBD 2004).
Childhood: The Grangers, while accepting the Wizarding world and their daughter's place in it, do not approve of using magic for quick fixes. They insisted, for example, that Hermione's somewhat oversized front teeth be dealt with in the usual way: with braces. They send healthy snacks by owl to Hermione at Hogwarts and come with her to Diagon Alley in August to help her buy her things for school. What they tell their family and friends about their daughter and her school is anyone's guess, but they are certainly proud of her.

Birth name: Sirius Black.
Name meaning: A pun on the fact that he can change into a big black dog.
First name meaning: Sirius=seirios (Greek) meaning "burning;" Sirius=the "Dog Star," the brightest one in the Canis Major ("Great Dog" wink constellation.
Other names: "Snuffles" and "Padfoot" (PA1 cool . "Padfoot" refers to his Animagus form; it is also the name that residents of central/northern England (i.e. Staffordshire, Yorkshire) have for the magical black dogs of their legends/fears. Usually, Padfoots guard churchyards or certain roads; are said to roam the countryside at night; tend to be larger than ordinary dogs; can vanish instantly or fade slowly away while standing still, yet can run extremely quickly; typically described as having huge and "blazing" eyes; tend to be silent. Because of their association with graveyards, scholars once believed the black dog form was the preferred form of the Devil, and are usually considered an omen of death, and are, thus, also called the Grim (Colbert Book: Magical Worlds of Harry Potter.).

Family in general: "The Noble and Most Ancient House of Black" dating to at least the Middle Ages (OP6); descendent of Phineas Nigellus Black, a Hogwarts Headmaster. Parents convinced that to be a 'Black' made you "practically royal." Disowned by his mother (and blasted off the family tapestry) for his rejection of the family?s belief in pure-blood supremacy.
Mother: Died 1987; her portrait is permanently mounted in the hallway of the Black family home.
Father: Unnamed wizard who heavily fortified the family home at number twelve Grimmauld Place, London.
Grandparents: Grandfather Black who was awarded Order of Merlin 1st Class for "Services to the Ministry" wink (OP6).

Birth name: Ronald Bilius Weasley.
'Ronald' name meaning: Ronald=Old Norse Rögnvaldr: "Having the Gods' Power" (OED).
'Bilius' meaning: Bilius=bilious, one of the four Medieval "humors" (temperaments), indicating anger and peevishness. Ron takes his middle name from his Uncle Bilius (WBD).
'Weasley' meaning: Weasley=like a weasel? JKR: "In Britain and Ireland the weasel has a bad reputation as an unfortunate, even malevolent, animal. However, since childhood I have had a great fondness for the Family Mustelidae; not so much malignant as maligned, in my opinion" (JKR).
The 'Running Weasel' fallacy: There was not a legendary chess player named 'Running Weasel!' This story is a fan rumor and not based on mythology or history.
