Aaron's eye brows scrunched, tired and drowsy. A loud "popping" noise had awoke him from his slumber, and he moaned lightly before rolling on to his back and yawning. He began to hear music and people talking, it got louder as he became more awake... Finally, his eyelids fluttered open.
Much to his surprise, there was Erik... staring right down into his face, smoking a cigarette and sitting on the edge of his bed. The popping noise was Erik opening his beer can.
"AHH!" the boy exclaimed as he jumped back, nearly falling off. He watched Erik smirk, studying Aaron through his black sunglasses.
"Kids awake," he laughed, holding Sam on his lap. He held her tightly, as though she would run away if he were to let go. She didn't say anything, only stared at the ground hopelessly.
"Beat it, kid," Erik ordered, pulling the cigarette away momentarily, and breathing out a haze of smoke. He then returned it to it's place and grinned at Aaron in a very dirty, unpleasant way. That of course, was his usual grin...
Aaron didn't like the way Erik looked at him, and he just plain didn't like Erik; who did? He didn't even realize what he was about to do, but he soon did it without a thought about the consequences.
"No," Aaron retorted, "Sammy says you do bad things to her, I won't let you! Go away, Erik!"
After realizing what he just said, he took a deep breath and tightened his fingers around the sheets incase he'd have to hold on...
"... Is that so?" Erik laughed at first, but when he turned to Sam his look became stern. He did something too fast for Aaron to catch, but it must of been something bad, he thought, because Sammy whined in pain afterwards. He yelled at her in German now, or "a different talk" as Aaron would say. When Sam started crying, he finished... and he turned to the boy again with the same harsh look.
"Get the f_ck outta the bed already, chicken sh_t," he commanded, still with a raised voice.
Aaron held the camera at his side; he watched Sam cry, Erik had hurt her again. He really hated this man now... how could he hurt Sam like that? How dare he do such a thing. Aaron scowled, his fear of the German man diminished as his anger and hatred grew.
"Don't hurt Sammy!" he shouted, "That's mean, you bad man, I'm telling my mom!"
Erik's patience finally withered away. He didn't care what an 8 year old said, and he knew if Pirate questioned Sam she would deny everything. He threw the sobbing girl from his lap and picked Aaron up from the bed; at that point Aaron's fears instantly returned. He screamed, but Erik tossed him out the door and slammed it shut.
Aaron hit the floor hard and was lucky not to break his arm... He sat up, coughing from the smoky smell of the hallway. A few people looked down at him and laughed, and he started to cry...
Who were they? Why were they laughing at him when he was hurt? He stood up, boldly running to his bedroom door and twisting the handle; it was locked. He hit his hand against the door, tears sliding down his cheeks.
"Don't you hurt Sammy!" he cried, "Leave her alone!"
Of course, the door didn't open. Aaron hated Erik so much... he pounded on the door again and again, determined to save his "sister" from this monster. He kept screaming about letting Sam go, and pounded on the door as he did. After about 3 minutes of this, Erik was pissed off.
"Shut you're mother f_cking mouth!!" He shouted, ripping the door open. He snatched Aaron off the ground and pulled him down the hallway.
Rioko was smoking in the living room, he had heard the commotion, but didn't plan on helping Aaron. However, when he saw Erik dragging him down the hall, through the dining room, and towards the backdoor... he got worried. He might not like Aaron much, but he was just a helpless little boy... He'd feel terrible if he were to allow Erik to... well...'hurt' him.
The gray Fenthry threw the cigarette out of his mouth and launched from the couch, zipping over to the dining room just in time to see Erik open the door and throw Aaron out. The poor boy hit the stairs and rolled down them, stopping in the mud and grass where drops of rain were showering the lawn.
"Erik!" Rioko exclaimed, "D-don't hurt him! Pirate, eh, she- she'd kill me!" he tried to blame it on Pirate, as not to show weakness for Aaron.
Aaron wheezed as his breath had temporarily disappeared, bruised and injured from the tumble down the stairs. He pushed himself up off the muddy earth to stare at Erik; his head was down slightly in fear, though his expression was more angry than anything else. His body ached, his joints burned, and his mind spun as the rain pelted his 4'3" self. He didn't regret trying to save Sam, though... he only regretted not being able to...
Erik glared at Aaron for a brief time, contemplating whether or not to beat him back to the ground...
"And stay out, mothaf_cker!" he shouted, thinking it was a rather funny sight... the little boy covered in mud, standing in the rain and looking all tough. Nevertheless, he was more interested in Sam, so he turned and walked back inside; the door slammed harshly behind him.
It seemed like Erik was going to stop there, so Rioko was relieved. If Aaron could get up, than he was fine... As long as the injuries weren't life threatening, the boy could stay out there all night for all he cared. The gray Fenthry was off to the living room again, back to his party.
Aaron sniffled, standing still and feeling his wet body shiver from the chilly, April wind. Inside his house, in his room, his sister was being abused and violated by that filthy man. He seemed to understand it perfectly even at such a young age, and it hurt him deeply. Deeper than any bruise or scrape from being tossed like a rag doll. The worst part was that no one could, or would, ever stop Erik... He just kept doing these ghastly things with no consequenes or reason not to do them.
Well Aaron was going to change that. He swore it, right then and there in the rain and mud of the cold night. One day, when he was big and strong, he was going to stop Erik... somehow, someway... he was going to make him pay for this, or he would die trying. One way or the other, Erik hadn't heard the last from him...
He spent the remainder of that night outside, sleeping in the shed with a blue tarp as his blanket. Pirate ended up falling asleep at the shop and never came home... It was hard for him to sleep, he spent most of the time crying about Sam. Within a few hours, though, he was out... dreaming of the day when he'd make Erik pay. And somehow... he felt a change coming. Coming in him...
The next morning when Aaron woke up he crawled out from the shed and went inside. Sam and Rioko were still cleaning up from the party last night, but Pirate hadn't come home yet...
"Sammy..." the boy snuck up behind her and tugged on the back of her shirt. When she turned to see what he wanted, he wrapped his arms around her and hugged her tight.
"Are you okay?" he asked in that sweet, caring little voice of a child.
Sam looked down at him, her depressed face unchanging.
"I'm fine, Aaron," she responded, patting his back, "I'm just fine..." It was somewhat of an uncovincing statement. Aaron couldn't quite make out the difference, though he had his doubts
"I hope you mean that," he sighed, clinging to her to try and make up for his failed rescue attempt yesterday night... Aaron wished Pirate was there... Not that he planned on telling her about what happened. He knew she would go all psycho on Rioko and Sam both... She was definitely going to find out about the party, because the house reaked of alcohol and cigarette smoke... But the part about him getting thrown out into the rain to sleep in the shed? No, that would go untold.
