Welcome to the Official Thread for Anti-Inflation, because I don't know about you, but I'm sick of paying TONS of gold for a sealed envelope the first week of the month.
Wise Gaian
Gaia is an on-line community. I've tried to do my part in enriching this community by doing activities such as sales, puzzles, and those types of activities.
Greed has been there and I know such a thing can not be excised. In certain cases it could be a good thing as it allows people to thrive. However, when it is as prevalent as it is now, it can not be a good thing.
My gaian career has always been in to building the community and helping people out.
That has been how it was with the GGG, called the Gaian Gigolo Guild in November 03. What we did was band a bunch of people together. We did small contests as a guild and helped each other out with items and an inter-change.
It disappeared after a while, especially after thread glitches.
Next I became part of the FYA, who was built as a group to help out those of us who do these charities and sales. We are almost like a shadow organization that helps out charities and do give-aways, even if it is through a third party so that we are not as seen.
Lastly I am myself. I have hidden behind proxies and others so that I can affect change without getting myself known. Helping charities through mules and through helpers who donate what I give to them for me.
The operative word here is "On-line Community":
How can I operate here, when the administrative body itself is the one that shows no consideration of it?
They have taken the Price Guides out of the Exchange without fully trying to comprehend the impact that it does. Has any one noticed the surge of prices nowadays? Such a thing is directly correlated to users not using the Price Guides but the Market-Place to price things instead. Price guides gives a needed time lapse due to the inability to update often. They complain that Price Guides can be manipulated easily, how much more so for a Market place that can get hijacked easily even by a user such as myself if I wanted to.
That is not my gripe. No, it shows favor to those who cause such crazy upshoots to the point that even in the "Contribute to our Site", when they posted the picture on how much a donation item grows, they placed a high price on one of those items making it surge past it immediately.
I thought this place was for building community. Not greed. Why cut the ones trying to help newer users by their knees? What have I been working for?
Now they take off the 1K shops and anti-inflation threads in the exchange. I thought that this place was where we can try to affect change in prices. In placing it in to charities, once again the governing body has slapped us in the face for trying to be nice. Trying to help out. Trying to show, that there is something here beyond just greed.
So, what now? I really have tried. It has never been inflation that I am going against.
I used to say "Still, do you truly think I can just give up? It is not an issue of winning or losing, to me it has always been an issue of how can gaia be made better in terms of the people. The current climate just breeds backstabbing and greed. I don't like it, it makes gaia much less fun. What is the point of being here if the people around are just sycophantic whores for pixels? That has always been my issue. So in the end, I give them things to do instead of paying the full price."
How can I say that if I have to go against mods to do it?
In the end, they forget the most important aspect of a forum or site. It is not how well laid out or how pretty things are or the features that is placed in. In the end, what gives a place its lasting appeal is the people found inside. Ever hear the quote "A place is only as good as its people"?
